No! He told His followers to follow HIm! religions are formed by men, relationships are made by god.
Read this scripture:
Ephesians 2:19-22 King James Version
19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

This is the perfect definition of the church of Jesus Christ, who was the founder and foundation of it, along with the apostles and prophets. He was not resurrected when he formed the foundation of his church, he was still a man.

Jesus formed it, it had 20-30 members when he died, and he grew it throught the ministry of the apostles.

Jesus was fully man. He started the Christian religion with only 20 people in the church when he died.
But when he was leaving the apostles after the resurrection he commanded them to go into the whole world and preach and baptize people into his church.

These same apostles were then to teach these people who were baptized how to be perfect, how to do the work of the ministry and gave them the full truth about Jesus. So they would no longer be children, tossed to and fro with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, who lay in wait to deceive.
(Read Ephesians 4:11-14)

Jesus chose his church leaders and left them in charge when he went to heaven, but communicated with them through revelation and the gift of the Holy Spirit, and the church grew.

There is no doubt, the words of Christ became the foundation of a religion. The (Christ)ian religion, named after Christ himself.

sorry Gregory

Jesus is the fulfillment of God's Word in the case of man, of which God expressed to the likes of Abraham Moses Noah so on and so forth those who believed and trusted God's Word revealed to them.

a religion can be classified as a system of belief, but the constitution of the US of A is a system of belief, isn't it? communism or socialism is a system of belief also. are they religions too? the Torah was for the soul purpose of maintaining a nation that prophecies in all it does, and accommodates the coming of Christ using the law itself. the law was the law of the land, not a religion. and Jesus fulfilled that law and purpose.

Jesus Christ is not a religion, nor did Jesus start a religion, though men make religion of Him, what He said, and what His Apostles said. Jesus is the Truth the Way the Life and Life isn't a religion, the Way of Life isn't a religion, nor is the Truth a religion.

Two different questions. Since Christianity comes from "Christ" you could say that Jesus started the religion of Bible Christianity ("pure religion and undefiled"). But Jesus is God, not a religion.
Jesus didn't come to start a religion at all. He came to reveal and teach people how they were supposed to live by what was already written in the Old Testament, hence His statements in Matt. 4 and Matt. 5:17. All of the problems He had with the religious leaders of His day revolved around the fact that they failed to observe that religion the way it was meant to be kept, and it's no different with the "Christian" denominations today.

Jesus is a person not a thing (religion).

And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee:
therefore also That Holy Thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

Luke 1:35

Talk about whacked translations.

Luke 1:35
The Voice

Messenger: The Holy Spirit will come upon you. The Most High will overshadow you. That’s why this holy child will be known, as not just your son, but also as the Son of God.

Talk about whacked translations.

why are you giving me more examples of whacked translations?

because you cannot bear the actual word of God.

I don't understand what you are telling me. I know this and agree with it.

It seems like a lot of Christians like to say,

"Christianity isn't a religion but a relationship with God."

What they mean is that Christianity isn't just another set of rules to be followed.

But Christianity is a religion and Jesus is its founder.

I don't think its a bad thing for Christianity to be a religion. The world has given the word 'religion' a negative connotation but we should not follow the trends of the world.
