1Ti 3:2 An elder must be without fault; he must have only one wife, be sober, self-controlled, and orderly; he must welcome strangers in his home; he must be able to teach;

1Ti 3:3 he must not be a drunkard or a violent man, but gentle and peaceful; he must not love money;

1Ti 3:4 he must be able to manage his own family well and make his children obey him with all respect.

1Ti 3:5 For if a man does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of the church of God?

1Ti 3:6 He must be mature in the faith, so that he will not swell up with pride and be condemned, as the Devil was.

An elder must not be a novice, lest being immature in the faith, he could become prideful and end up condemned, just as Satan is condemned.

To whit:

condemnation of the devil — into the same condemnation as Satan fell into (1Ti 3:7; 2Ti 2:26). Pride was the cause of Satan’s condemnation (Job 38:15; Isa 14:12-15; Joh 12:31; Joh 16:11; 2Pe 2:4; Jud 1:6).

Unless Satan is saved, an elder can end up damned if he becomes full of pride.

OSAS is falsified in that passage.
