Colossians 2:23 (NASB20)
These are matters which do have the appearance of wisdom in self-made religion and humility and severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against fleshly indulgence.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
‘appearance of wisdom …… but no value against fleshy indulgence’
Everything that has no value against fleshy indulgences is that that is being spoken against as having the ‘appearance of wisdom’… Meaning that before God it is of no value, man might value it, but before God it is useless…. The reason being as scripture puts forth, it can do nothing to overcome fleshy indulgences…… Or in other words only that which can overcome sin has any standing before God, all else is but man building castles in the air to his own vanity….
If this is a true and correct statement, it would be the most pressing of matters to find out what it was exactly that was being spoken of, as that which did have the power to overcome fleshy indulgences…..
That would be pointing back to the statement; ‘if you have died… why?…’
For the end of all things is one’s death in Christ, when this truth is seen, all else becomes as it were castles in the air, that which has no value against fleshy indulgences… For this is the line in the sand when it comes to fleshy indulgences, one having died… For a dead man has no fleshy indulgences, they may be all around him, screaming in his ear but being how he is dead they are powerless over him…
This is the great truth of faith concerning fleshy indulgences, one’s death in Christ… Scripture says faith is that that overcomes, blessed is the heart that sees it most certainly is…
