In Judo or Ju Jitsu a key foundation is to use the other persons strength to your advantage if they attack you and then to work to control them. That's what our Police use here, as it's a art that is dealling in a nice respectible way to others, without the intent of hurting them.

I used to play racquetball in my younger days. I’d practice and practice my arsenal of shots every day in a court all by myself. I loved the game. Well one day, the mayor of our city, a big guy, came to me; he wanted a game. I said, “okay.”

Now I’m a small petite 5’2” lady…. So when he began slamming the ball really hard against the walls in an attempt to intimidate me, I thought to myself, “Ah! … time for a little strategy!” All I had to do was play those fast balls off the back wall, wait for them to drop down low just a couple of inches off the floor and then hit the ball low and hard into the corner. Ta-dah! The balls would pretty much die there and there was no way he could return them. I won the match.
