Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Jesus came preaching the gospel of the kingdom. Jesus was preaching himself as the Son of God, the Messiah. Jesus was preaching that the coming kingdom was at hand; the promised, prophetic, earthly Davidic kingdom. Jesus will rule on the throne of David (Isiah 9:7), and Israel will be kings, and priests, a Holy nation (Exodus 19:6 Revelation 1:6).

Israel could only enter the kingdom through the narrow, strait gate. They could only enter through Jesus, by believing he is the Son of God, their Messiah. They could only enter by obeying the commandments of Jesus; they had to confess him, be baptized, and obey the law for righteousness in his sight. They would be given the Holy Ghost, who would give them power (Luke 24:49).

Matthew 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

Apostate Israel would be separated from the believing remnant of Israel. The apostate, unbelieving Israel, would be known to the remnant by their fruit.

Matthew 7:17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

Apostate Israel will produce evil fruit.

Matthew 7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
7:19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Apostate Israel faces the fire of hell if they will not believe on Jesus.

Matthew 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

The remnant, the little flock, will know who is apostate among them during the tribulation.
