I belong to a mega-church, but I am always amazed by the number of people, including fellow Christians, who hold very strong negative opinions about every mega-church, without any knowledge of how any of those individual churches are run or operated.
No church is perfect and no church is good or bad , because of it’s size. Mega-churches, because of their large size tend to be well-known, therefore any misdeeds in them, real or imagined, spread far and wide, as opposed to a small-church, that is less known. The wrong things can happen in any size church, but the bigger you are , the more and bigger the publicity.

The number of those who ate was five thousand men, besides women and children - Matthew 14:21

The preceding scripture, only gives us the number of men, who were the heads of households, but if we add the men plus women and children, the number would be over ten thousand people. This was many centuries ago, when the world population was much smaller and yet Jesus preached to mega-crowds, which today would equal a mega-church.

Now those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children - Matthew 15:38

Here again, the number of men plus women and children, would be nearly or over ten thousand people. Jesus preached to mega-church size crowds, many centuries ago. So, if Jesus had mega-crowds, why would it be wrong to have mega-churches today, when the world population is much bigger?
Furthermore, we have mega this and mega that, in our time, like mega-stores or mega-farms, because small stores or small farms can no longer, meet the needs of a growing population. The same is true of churches, small churches, in some cases, can no longer meet the needs of a growing population, regardless of any shortcomings that they may have or not have.

I like Mega Churches....

The small groups are numerous and awesome.

When the large congregation joyfully sings songs in unison.....it's so awesome.

Sure, there are some schmucks in the congregation.....people are gonna people.

But it's better than nothing.

But the 5000 and 4000 were not a church, were they?

I've been part of a big church, and the last 30 years I've been a member of a small church. The big church had a lot of resources and lot of ministries you can try until you find what God calls you to do. In a small church, you do a lotta different stuff simply because somebody's gotta do it.

I don't think I'd trade. I think I'm where I'm supposed to be.

But the 5000 and 4000 were not a church, were they?
True, the 5000 & 4000 were not a church, but they were people who came to hear Jesus preach. Jesus did not establish a physical church , he was a traveling preacher, moving from place to place. But I do not doubt, that if Jesus had set up a physical church it would have had thousands of members, just like a mega-church.

I used to go to a mega church and it's a social club.

Don't feel bad, most small churches are just social clubs too.

While the main focus of any church should be to share or spread the gospel, people being human, also use the church to socialize, as long as socializing, does not dominate the gospel itself.
All in all, no church can be better by itself, people have to work on it and make it better.

Problem is the social club part is where peer pressure is used to suck people in to false doctrine which is required that they follow the church's false doctrine because if they don't then they get the left foot of fellowship right out the door and are no longer welcome there.

This is what's wrong with going to a church that teaches false doctrine and they all teach false doctrine in these end times in which we are living

Jesus tells us in Mt 24 that in the end times many will come in His Name deceiving many so all the false teachers claim to be following the Lord and claim to ab anointed of the Lord to speak in behalf of the Lord.

It is up to you as an individual to double-check the doctrines or messages, that are preached or taught. So, if any church doctrine or message makes you uncomfortable, don’t go there anymore.
Just as any business, whose service you don’t like, you can stop patronizing it.

Jesus did not establish a physical church ,

Actually, Jesus did establish a "church".....as the NT Body Of Christ was birthed by The Sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross.

How do we know?
Its because if there is No Cross of Christ, there is no NT Church.....no "body of Christ"........no "Christians".

There is no debate, that a spiritual church headed by and established by Jesus exist, which is all born again Christians as a collective or the body of Christ.
But Jesus never established a physical church . He established a spiritual church.

Every born again Christian who has existed for the last 2000 yrs,..including those born again today......... is the "body of Christ " which is the """physical church""" Created by Jesus's Death and Resurrection.

The Cross of Christ birthed the NT Church... via the Holy Spirit....one believer at a time, for the last 2000 yrs.

The physical church you are referring to can only be understood spiritually, because the born again Christians that make up the church are scattered all over the world.
But at the same time to validate your point, every born again Christian is a small church, if we are to get more technical, therefore there is a physical church, if we regard believers as the church.
It all depends on, whether you look at it with a spiritual lense or a natural/physical lense.

It was Christ's Physical Death (The Cross of Christ). and literal resurrection that Created the opportunity for any Sinner to become " the temple of the Holy Spirit.", a CHRISTian.
