After WWII people to be doctors, engineers and scientists. Now the person of the yea award goes to an entertainer! The parallels to the fall of the Roman Empire grow. Thoughts?

Yes, it certainly is a big switch from doctors, etc, to a singer. Shows what some people consider important.

I'm not familiar with her music. Only familiar with her because I keep hearing about her on the news and other programs. I do know a young person who attended her concert here in Los Angeles....$500 for a ticket! Wow.

Well, you made me research her. Raised a Christian but a typically-woke advocate. Sad, but true--it reflects the continuing spiritual deterioration of America, along with the rest of the "Christian" world.

Our job, however, is to continue to testify to the truth of Christianity to the end without ambiguity and without error. Love always has a message, in all times and in all places.

Entertainers ie: beautiful singers have been popular for a very long time. Surely there's more unique things that may signify the end is near?

True, but it may be a tic higher on the "signs" list than a sign on a street corner? ;) I think we're just looking at random evidence of spiritual deterioration at a particular time in history when historic Christianity is in freefall.

No. Glorifying the trivial is one of the biggest signs the end is near.

Except that has been happening forever. It's not a sign of the end. Jesus listed signs of the end in the OD and didn't mention that.

The Signs of the End Jesus listed covered his own generation as well as the entire age. He was *not* trying to predict when the end is coming.

You are determined to deny. It has not happened in the history of Time Magazine.

Again, You are determined to deny. Yes, Jesus mentioned OTHER signs as well. What do you make of the Fig tree prophecy coming true in 1948?

It didn't come true in 1948. Most people have no idea what the fig tree prophecy even is about and a little hint, it's not about only the fig tree.

I believe the parable of the fig tree beginning to show signs of life began to occur when some of Israel in unbelief heard the message of the Gospel, and by grace through faith believed in Christ for eternal life. The parable was given that the disciples might know that the Kingdom of God was near and even at hand for whosoever believed in Christ.

The sign of life in Israel after the cross and resurrection was needed to prove that Christ had already come in His spiritual Kingdom. That way they would not be caught up in looking for a physical Kingdom of God to come to the earth. It would be a magnificent sign since the first century disciples saw the fig tree, which represented Old Covenant Israel, wither and die, being cursed by Christ to never have life again.

All of the parables of Christ, using familiar things, were given to prove the Kingdom of God has come to man, and His Kingdom is not of this world, cannot be observed with visible sight because the Kingdom of God is within you.

So the parable of the fig tree IMO is not evidence of the end of this age, rather it is evidence of the beginning of the Gospel age that came with Christ as the spiritual Kingdom of God is built through the power of the Gospel and Holy Spirit.

Mt 21:19; Mt 24:32-33; Lu 13:6-7

All the theologians from the early church to now agreed that the parable of the fig tree was about the return of Israel to their homeland which occurred in 1948. It is that generation that the Jesus was talking about. Peal Harbor had a survivor's union just recently. The WW2 generation is still with us.

The biggest sign that the end is near is the conforming church.

All of the the faithful except Noah conformed to the world and that is why God destroyed the world by the flood thus it will be the same reason that God will destroy the world by fire.

Really?

Did Israel turn back to God? Has Israel had peace since they returned to the land? Were they given Jerusalem by God in 1948?

Do you know that Israel persecuted Christians, shut down Christian churches and kicked Christians off of their land in 1948?

Does that sound like Gods will having Christ rejecting Jews persecute Christians?

The bible shows that God blessed Israel when they turned back to Him. It was man’s will not Gods that’s why they haven’t had any peace

Please cite early church leaders who viewed the "fig tree" as the Return of Israel? Most all of them viewed Israel as lost with little hope of return.

In fact, through most of Christian history, what we call "Replacement Theology" has been the primary viewpoint, though in recent times there has a emerged modern belief in Israel's biblical return. The very earliest time of the Church did seem to believe in Israel's return.

No one said they would return to God. Just to the Homeland.

How is 1948 when Israel was permitted to return to their homeland proof of life beginning to be seen on the fig tree? Since the fig tree symbolizes Israel in unbelief, why is there no evidence of them beginning to grow in 1948? Surely you don't believe the parable of the fig tree was a symbol of national life for unbelieving Israel? The purpose for all of Christ's parables is so we might know the spiritual Kingdom of God has come. Israel once again attaining to statehood in 1948 is NOT proof the fig tree had once again begin to display signs of life.

The generation that shall not pass till all these things shall be fulfilled, is the "chosen generation", that began with the remnant of unbelieving Jews becoming saved as the Gospel began to be proclaimed first to the Jews and then to all the nations of the world. That is proof of life the fig tree of Old (unbelieving Israel) began to demonstrate as some Jews were born again and entered into the spiritual Kingdom of God through the Spirit of Christ within them.
