What are you specifically trying to learn?
1. The Christian New Testament is not a stand alone document.
2. There are thousands of variations of the Christian faith. It would help if you listed a few things you believe and then we might be able to find you a home.

Do you have a new testament only bible? It is only half of the Bible. Everything in it was written after Jesus' coming. The teachings of Jesus are sufficient for salvation. So it is It is a decent place to start reading.

There are different versions of the Bible, translated from the hebrew and Greek. Some are published as the new testament, so what you have could be any number of different versions. Most common are NIV, ESV, KJV, NKJV. It is the version that may discredit a Bible, as some translations have taken liberties they shouldn't have. So let us know what version it is.

You will get different advice from different people. No problem. I started at beginning and read the whole Bible in a week or so. But short of that, many recomend starting with the gospel of John, then the rest of the New Testament. When you get to the book of Revelation, you will perhaps understand how reading the Old Testament is also important, because it is the foundation that the New Testament is built upon, and points to, fulfills, and confirms much of what is in the New Testament.

Don't be too concerned about your comprehension, God will provide that comprehension when the time is right.

Christ Acts 9:15 chose Paul as Rom 11:13 Apostle & Rom 15:16 Minister to Gal 2:7-9 teach how we today are saved.
Christ Gal 1:11-12 taught Paul the relevant saving Gospel for today
1 Cor 15:1-4 is that saving Gospel and is how we are Eph 1:13, Eph 4:30 HS sealed today.
Gal 2:2 Paul even had to teach that Gospel to the other Apostles before him.
Titus 3:5-7, Eph 2:8-9, Gal 2:16, Rom 3:28, Rom 4:5, Rom 5:1 are the performance requirements to be & remain saved.
