John the Baptist was making the way for...................................Jesus. The kingdom of God is found within Christ.
This was not an outward Davidic kingdom. That's what the Zealots were desiring.
But the kingdom of God was not about a kingdom that came by sight....but by faith. A Christian should not be a Jewish Zealot....who only sees things from a carnal political slant.
I am not being argumentative here, but with all respect to your position, you say, and so do others, that the kingdom of God is within. Please elaborate, how do you explain the following verses that speak of a literal kingdom on earth.
Isaiah 2:2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.
2:3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and
the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
2:4 And he shall
judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
Psalm 132:11 The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body
will I set upon thy throne.
132:13 For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.
132:14 This is my rest for ever:
here will I dwell; for I have desired it.
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
9:7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end,
upon the throne of David, and
upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
Luke 1:32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the
throne of his father David:
1:33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his
kingdom there shall be no end.
Revelation 5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall
reign on the earth.
Revelation 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and
they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
