I am so disappointed in my president's new stance on same sex marriages...the U.S. is headed for stiff judgement.

I think it is meaningless. He also believes it is an issue of states' rights

He is an idiot that is just chasing the trendy popularity vote.

Does not history show that all nations have always come crashing down to their destruction with the so called fags leading the show.

The problem is this is spiritual blindness. David Cameron is the same.
The UN Declaration of Human Rights, articles 16 & 18 protects the right of the man and woman to marry and found a family and the freedom of religious belief, manifestation and expression. For information, Article 9 of the European Human Rights act also protects marriage as man and woman. These people such as Obama and Cameron think same sex partnerships as mariage is a human right and they still think it and tell everyone even after the human rights courts tell them it isnt.
What use are human rights if the governments dont even recognise them?

Watch out for those who try and sweep the issue under the carpet.

Sure an apple and a pear are both fruit just like an apple and an apple, but an apple and a pear is not the same as an apple and an apple.
Sure a man and a man are both humans, but a man and a woman are different sexes within the human species.

One cannot make two different combinations equal just by pretending they are and sweeping the difference under the carpet.

This is the biggest non-issue of the moment

Reminds me of the Pharisees' 'Fox News' type of alarmist concern about Jesus healing on the Sabbath.

All politicians love wedge issues - 19th century brought us abolitionism / 20th abortion / today, homosexual marriage.

Don'r look at the man behind the curtain.........

It's meaningless to favor sin? In whose eyes?

You are concerned about this issue because Washington is telling you it is important. It is actually less important to 99% of the world than most wedge issues. In fact, as someone on this board has already pointed out, even most non-homosexual activists could careless.

All politicians care about is your vote - liberals are hooked by a sense of fairness - conservatives by moral issues. Remember, Hitler was ELECTED in Germany.

Politicians spend a lot of time and money trying to find out what our prejudices are, so they can exploit them to get elected. My friend refuses to vote for anyone who believes that abortion should be legal - flat out refuses - politicians love that! His voted is guaranteed - it is money in the bank for all pro-life candidates. It doesn't matter that the major in his city will never influence the issue of abortion, it only matters that one side gets to pull his strings during every election and get the vote they want every time.

Wedge issues turn the electorate into a politician's personal vending machine.

For me, I refuse to be a one issue voter. Especially on the issue of same sex marriage. Deciding what is best for 1% of the population does not create jobs or feed or house anyone.

aspen2,

Jake's point is correct. How can it be meaningless to even turn a blind eye to sin that can be a barrier to the Kingdom?
Where is the gospel of salvation after that? Nowhere.

It is the same logic used to condemn Jesus for healing on the Sabbath. Frankly, Jesus was, technically working on the Sabbath - so technically the Pharisees were right. So why was it ok to heal on the Sabbath? Because the welfare of people come before laws - Jesus responded correctly when He said the Sabbath was created for man, not man for the Sabbath. The Pharisees were all politicians - and all politicians (liberal and conservative) love legalism and technicalities and framing nonissues in the terms of 'fairness' or 'right and wrong'

Aspen2,
As it is Christ’s NT teaching that says same sex immorality is a barrier to the kingdom what we are saying is not condemning Jesus.

They say that Mr. Obama's opinion on this has "evolved." If there was an 'R' after his name they would say he "flip-flopped."

As CNN reported:
1998 - Supported gay marraige
2000 - Stated he was 'undecided'
2004 - Opposed gay marraige
2008 - Opposed gay marraige
2012 - Supports gay marraige

Same with Defense of Marraige Act:
2004 - Supported DOMA
2006 - Supported DOMA
2008 - Supported DOMA
2010 - Said supported DOMA but would not "actively" work to embrace it.
2012 - Opposes DOMA

Same with the ObamaCare mandate:
2008 - During the primaries he said that requiring a medical mandate would be like "trying to solve homelessness by mandating that everyone buy a house." http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/26/american-crossroads-health-care-reform-obamacare_n_1379824.html
2012 - Well, you know....

I believe that Mr. Obama's plan was to wait until after the elections to come out for gay marraige, but gay, lesbian, and transgender groups that said they would vote for him began holding back millions in campaign contributions.

Then the press corps openly mocked and ridiculed his press secretary Jay Carney for defending the President's "wishy-washy" claim that his opinion was "still evolving" after the VP forced his hand with his own statement supporting gay marraige.

The move may not have been the smarted for Mr. Obama.
It will gain him no additional votes, either among the Liberals or Conservatives, and there may be a downside.

NBC's Brian Williams states it make cost him 2-4% of the Black vote and 5-15% of the Hispanic vote.

The backlash have already begun. Rasmussen states today Romney leads Obama 50%-43%.

In my personal opinion, it is just one more thing being thrown up to keep people from actually talking about Mr. Obama's record.

- He promised to cut the Deficit in half during his first term but instead added more to the Deficit in three years ($5 Trillion) than Mr. Bush added in a full eight years. And two of those first three years were with a Dem House and Senate.

- His $780 Billion "shovel-ready jobs bill" was promised to prevent unemployment from going above 8% and "would quickly help it go down to 6%."
It has since been ABOVE 8% for 39 straight months. 29 of those months at or above 9%.

At this point it is very hard to keep a straight face when someone tries to blame Bush.

It may be that he was brought up to believe one way but has changed his mind. So what, the truth is the truth, I once was lost but now I see.
Our battle is not against flesh and blood but against evil spritual powers.

So true, it is the work of Satan in the detail as it is an another attack on Christ and man in his blind sickening ignorant stupidity leading us into destruction.
These people who support the filth are on the track to Hell and trying to drag others down with them.

-- LOL No, he does not keep his positions consistently.

Candidate Obama promised Gitmo would be closed before the end of his first term
President Obama still has not closed it even after almost four years

Candidate Obama promised to end the Bush Tax Cuts within the first year
President Obama has left them in place going on four years now

Candidate Obama promised civilian trials in U.S. courts for Khalid Sheik Mohammed and the other terrorists
President Obama has instead allowed military tribunals for these terrorists begin.......in Gitmo, no less.

Candidate Obama said that recess appointments were Unconstitutional and showed a presidential inability to work with Congress
President Obama has made several recess appointments

Candidate Obama said that raising the debt ceiling was Unconstitutional and that there is no justification for it under any circumstances
President Obama demanded that the debt ceiling be raised, stating it was necessary to keep government functioning

Candidate Obama said that he would end drone attacks because they "produced little results" and are likely a violation of the Geneva Convention
President Obama has expanded drone attacks three-fold over his predecessor.

Candidate Obama said that a President has no right to commit US forces to combat operations without Congressional approval.
President Obama committed US combat forces to action in Libya without consulting with Congress.

Candidate Obama said that the reason gas prices were so high in 2008 was because President Bush was "keeping them artificially high" to "benefit the Saudis."
President Obama stated (after gas prices went up 113% since he took office) that the President has no ability to influence gasoline prices whatsoever.

Candidate Obama said Bush adding $5 Trillion to the Debt over five years was "inexcusable" and that he would cut the Deficit in half during his first term
President Obama instead added $5 Trillion MORE to the Debt in just his first three years in office.

And then his flip-flops on:
DOMA
Gay Marraige
The Healthcare Mandate.

And it isn't a matter of "show me another politician..."

Mr. Obama promised to change this, not perpetuate it.

You may begin your spin, but it may be better for you to change the subject or ignore this post altogether.

And save us the Goerge Bush rants. Obama promised to "fix" what Bush did and instead continued and even expanded much of it.

Obama has done more than any president in recent history. You have to go as far back as Johnson to even come close. I am going to enjoy the next four years under his fine leadership.

LOL - I see you have been unable to provide even one name of a President that has been consistent on his promises. Gee, I wonder why?

Where does Jesus mention homosexuality?
Thats an interesting response. I thought I read in one of your posts that you acknowldged the scripture condemns same sex relations or words to that effect. Now it seems you are tap dancing.

As I said, it is Christ’s NT teaching that says same sex immorality is a barrier to the kingdom so what we are saying is not condemning Jesus, dont make that wrong suggestion.
If people are putting that idol and barrier up then they are deceiving themselves about the gospel of salvation.

aspen2,
Do you really want to go down this route?

Verse? Ok so for example does Jesus actually say exclude gays from communion? If so verse please. If not you agree with it right?
Dont play devil's advocate with me or you will no doubt end up offended that you think people are rude to you.

The verses where his teaching condemns it have been given. ie 1 Cor 6-7 and Romans 1.
