The Measure Yehovah has left for our use is the Holy Bible.
Oh like what?
1Co 15:9
For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
1Co 15:10
But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
1Co 15:11
Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.

Who determines what measure God metes?

@Ziggy I think @BillTaylor brought up about the Word of God being the measure we use (what we judge by) because @ScottA said he has been to the third heaven and has stood before God.

Do you believe Paul when he gave an account of someone whom he doesn't mention by name who was caught up to the third heaven and heard something?

2Co 12:2
I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.
2Co 12:4
How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

Who is this man?

By what measure did Paul judge this man's testimony to be true?

There are only 2 that I am aware of that testify they have been to heaven and that is Enoch and the one who wrote the book of Revelation.
Rev 1:9
I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Rev 1:10
I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,
Rev 4:2
And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.

Paul says he knew this man above 14 years ago. Did Paul receive the Revelation from John?

2Co 12:7
And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

Eph 1:17
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
Eph 1:18
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
Eph 1:19
And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,

Selling a book leaves you open to scrutiny? ok

Well Paul calls that scrutiny a messenger of Satan sent to buffet him,
So I guess Scott is in good company, just saying.

I'm not judging one way or the other. I haven't heard his testimony.
I'm just saying:

Rom 14:4
Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

Now if God were to give you a revelation and you were told to write a book, like many are throughout the bible are,
How would you want that message to be received?
Are you judging the revelation or the messenger?

Hugs

Bill might appreciate the context here. Perhaps not. But "Israel", other than being a person and a nation, is a promise, meaning "God prevails."

If we are to understand spiritually, we should not quench the Spirit in that passage, but reading it with "God prevails" in the place of "Israel." Wherein, every nation and people have been and do attack "God prevails."

But the hour is late, and He who restrains, has done so until this time...and much of what is written will come not as expected.
Israel — The name combines two parts: sara (meaning "to struggle," "strive," or "fight") and el (meaning "God"). Some scholars also suggest alternate translations like "God rules" or "El will rule".

In the Hebrew Bible (Genesis 32:28), the patriarch Jacob wrestles with a divine messenger or angel all night. After the struggle, God renames Jacob "Israel" because he has "struggled with God and with men and prevailed".

Amos 9:14-15
14 I will bring back the captives of My people Israel; ...
15 I will plant them in their land, And no longer shall they be pulled up From the land I have given them," Says the LORD your God.

Thus, Israel refers to a man and a nation, not an abstract idea that God prevails.

@ScottA said he has been to the third heaven and has stood before God.
This is what scripture says ....

1 John 4:12
“No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.”

The words of Jesus Christ, Himself....

John 1:18

“No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.”

@ScottA said he has been to the third heaven and has stood before God.
Scott’s speaks many false teachings. In this case, he attributes to himself an experience the apostle Paul described.

2 Corinthians 12

1 It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.

2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.

3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)

4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

You are responding as if none of God's plan is beyond worldly. Your choice. Everyone gets to choose.

Meanwhile, no, God only gave Israel a piece of the Middle East for a time...as a light unto the gentiles. What He ultimately gave them was their lot in the new heavens and earth--in heaven. Apparently you didn't see the light...and you're not alone. :(

I wonder how you would reconcile God condoning actual genocide in the Old Testament (and for good reason).

p.s. there's still no genocide in Gaza.

just curious

Most scholars date 2 Corinthians to around AD 55–56, likely written from Macedonia during Paul’s third missionary journey, about a year after 1 Corinthians

and Paul says he knew a man above 14 years ago.
So that would put Paul's encounter with this man around 41AD

Most scholars date John’s writing of Revelation to AD 95–96 during Emperor Domitian’s reign, though a minority view places it earlier, around AD 65–69 under Nero.

John the Baptist was imprisoned by Herod Antipas on June 12, 26 CE

Most historical and biblical sources place the beheading of John the Baptist around 28–30 CE, with traditional Christian commemoration on 29 August. According to multiple accounts, Herod Antipas ordered his execution at the fortress of Machaerus in present‑day Jordan.

I'm sticking with my theory that John the Baptist is the one that was given the Revelation by God concerning the Lamb of God which is seated on the Throne of Glory in Revelation.

Above 14 years puts the encounter closer to John the Baptist then it does John the Apostle.

And FRANKLY, I wouldn't be surprised if it was Saul who later became Paul who was charged with beheading him.

But that's just me

Judah conquered the Kingdom of Jerusalem.
The Israelites inhabited that land.
The Country was never named Israel until the Balfour Treaty in 1917.

The “Balfour Treaty” usually refers to the Balfour Declaration of 2 November 1917, a British government letter by Foreign Secretary Arthur James Balfour supporting the establishment of a “national home for the Jewish people” in Palestine, sent to Lord Rothschild.

Jerusalem is the Capital of Jerusalem renamed Israel for the people which occupied it.

The land was officially named "Israel" with the declaration of the State of Israel on May 14, 1948, though the name has biblical origins dating back to Jacob, later called Israel.

However whilst Israel did exist as a kingdom for centuries in the past, there has never been a State of Palestine. The Roman occupation of the region they called Palestina was never nation states and of course Jews still lived there. Jews still lived there during Byzantine and Ottoman Empires, but Mandatory Palestine under 25 years of British rule was hardly a Palestinian state.
The idea of 'from the river to the sea Palestine will be free' is a modern baseless invention.

For it is He who caught me up to the third heaven and gave me words not lawful to utter...until the times were fulfilled, and returned me to speak what is not mine but given to me nonetheless.

I see you have edited the paragraph. You removed the part where you said you stood before God.

This morning it came to me to ask you what did God look like? That is why I searched for the paragraph again.

ScottA's posts before you jumped on me are in extreme difference to the words he used to explain them, warning me to be considerate minded. I live this, the ending years of my life, in complete subjection to the Ruah (Holy Spirt} and no matter how I feel, when a thing troubles the Spirit in my heart, I will always approach such with cautious inquiry. Paul and John were inspired by my God to record their events in Holy Scripture, this man it turns out is Hawking his book instead of being stoned or imprisoned and boiled in oil?

The measure is not a few verses drawn from the original context, ijndeed not! The measure is, how does his message fit with the context that flows from "In the beginning..." continuously through the final "Amen" of Rev. 22. The thoughts he has expressed violate everything I have ever learned from my 34+ years of study.
