Paul introduces us to what happens when we are born again:

The goal of true Christianity is to release the Christ in you so the body and soul, which we call the human self, can be overwhelmed and expressed by spirit.
Christians need a revelation of the Christ in them to be who God created you to be. It is not enough to just be saved. If a person gets saved they go to heaven and miss hell. But if a person gets saved and never knows Christ as life, they never fully become what God created them for on this earth.
If you have Christ in you, you make heaven your home regardless of what you know.

However, to know who you are in this human form is a great understanding and completely changes your life like it did the Apostle Paul. God created you to be something special for Him. Christians who don't know the Christ who is in them will never come to that understanding.

The importance of Paul and knowing who you are:

Many of us go from group to group, from one church to another, and from doctrine to doctrine because we don't know who we are. We are searching for our true identity. Regardless of what someone may think, their true self is growing up in Christ. Christ lives through your created expression of who God made you to be.
Layman terms; if God put Christ in you, the only way for Christ to express Himself is as your creation. Can you see why you need to know something about that. Every good cult has jesus as their leader, that is a twisted perverted version of how Christ lives in the human being and express's Himself.
So your not Jesus or a little god, you are a living expression of the Christ in you. It is His fruit that is manifest by the knowing believer.
That is the reason Paul calls it "Christ in you," the two have become one, 1 Cor. 6:17

17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

As the revelation of the indwelling Christ grips the believer and they become grounded and anchored in their understanding by the HolySpirit, Christ shines through the uniqueness of your creation.
