Ohhh, so all messages in 'Start a Conversation' are for public scrutiny as per our brief interchange. Is that right?

Oh no, they are quite private. No one can read them unless you invite some third person to join in.

Any time that you wish to INBOX any person...just click on the persons name under their Avatar ..you will see a choice to click.
You will see "start a conversation" "profile" "Follow" "Ignore"
Obviously you would click on Start a Conversation.
Or like Oz said. If someone else is starting a conversation with you...you will see a red 1 up there by INBOX, next to your ALERT .

No, mate! You access the private message (start a conversation) that I sent you through your 'inbox' at the top of this page. You should have a red #1 there to indicate you have a new message.

All 'start a conversation' posts are private and don't go to the public forum. You can bring other people into the conversation if you want, but we won't go into that now.

Why don't you click on your 'inbox' and see the private 'conversation' I've started with you and reply to me?

What you are doing here is replying to me in the open forum. Of course, everyone can view these messages.

If you go to the 'Inbox' at the top of this page you'll find a Conversation topic I've started with you, 'G'day mate'. Nobody but you and me can view this.

Please reply to the 'Inbox' topic by clicking on 'Inbox' and tell me what you see by replying to me in this private 'Conversation'.

It is for this old fella who needs lots of help with IT. I have a son who is an IT professional and I recall his calling me, 'You are an IT dummy, Dad'.

He was dead right, once I got to know what 'dummy' meant in that context. He and I have a great relationship.

My grandchild have taught me almost everything I know!! lol
I have a little black note book where I write down " How to do ------"
That helps :)
