You say scripture does not furnish us with what we need. And that God speaks apart from scripture. When scripture says it thoroughly furnishes us.

You don't understand what the gifts were for, and you repeating that the speaker understood doesn't make it true. Romans 8 describes very well what praying in the Spirit is all about.

Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Paul says the gifts ceased when scripture (perfection) came. You imply scripture is faulty and cannot provide what we need.

Scripture takes care of all our needs. You say it does not, more is needed.

I gave you Scripture that proves the purpose of tongues. You have given nothing in Scripture that is against the gift of tongues. Yet you say Scripture takes care of all your needs as you disbelieve the Scripture. Oxymoronic.

The context of the chapter says face to face - literally. That is the second coming - the day of the Lord.

There were several purposes for tongues.

Paul says whenever perfection comes, faith, hope and love would remain (1 Corinthians 13:13) and tongues, prophecy will cease (1 Corinthians 13:8). If as you say, prophecy, tongues and interpretation remain until the end of the world, Paul's comparison is meaningless. So Paul inferred tongues would stop sometime before Christ’s return on the last day, when hope and faith find fulfillment in the new world and love remains.

Knowledge is exploding. It hasn't ceased, nor vanished away. But our technology won't be needed in heaven.
