If one looks at the events to history it is easy to conclude that the events occurring in history are what is referred to in the scriptures--but they are only the revelation or revealing of what was even before the foundation of the world, now being made manifest as a witness before the Judgement. The events being made manifest in this world when the times are fulfilled are the fulfillment of: "Behold, the former things have come to pass, And new things I declare; Before they spring forth I tell you of them” (Isaiah 42:9).
However, the things now made manifest in the world, in history, are but a small enactment of what is greater going on in heaven--even before the foundation of the world. Before--just as that Lamb was slain before, then came in the fullness of time, but merely came as a man in a small part of this world, while what has actually occurred was greater, even the greatest even of all heaven. This was the fulfillment of "Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven" (Matthew 6:10).
As for "Satan soon coming to rule it from Jerusalem", the greater passage speaks of Satan from the beginning of this world deceiving many (since Eve) until Messiah, after which he would be released, and has been released (starting at Jerusalem) until the times of the gentiles are fulfilled; then comes the end. Which does not speak of him coming at the end of the times of the gentiles, but at the beginning--after Christ said "It is finished regarding the house of Israel. This is the fulfillment of: "to the Jew first and also to the Greek (gentile)" (Romans 1 and 2).
