So I have problem when you say "....He mercilessly..." perhaps it would be better to say, "it seemed merciless" (to our flesh), but because He loves us and wants the best for us, He needs to allow ...(whatever)... to happen to us for our eternal good, so that we can surrender. This all from and because of His love for us...tough love, but love eternal. So in reality, it's BECAUSE of His MERCY that we are allowed to suffer.

After reading Madame Guyon's Autobiography, I understand the process of needing to suffer much better. I suggested this book to @Lizbeth thinking it could help her (because it was a big help for me), but she had a problem with Madame Guyon being Catholic...she read about the book, but I don't know if she ever read it.

Amen!!
That’s funny, because I thought that when I typed it. It was my actual thought that it was mercilessly merciful and that it’s our flesh that sees it as mean. I agree with you.
