Ok, I'm mega confused when it comes to the sabbath. You have one side saying that gods laws does not change and he established the sabbath at the beginning. Then there is the other side saying that GOD wont condemn you for worshiping him on a certain day. This stuff is confusing... I need some serious help on this topic.

Let’s take a look at God’s Sabbaths. After all, He IS the only one that can declare a day holy or not! And He is the only one that can change it!

Gen.2
[2] And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
[3] And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Lev.23
[3] Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.

So we know for a fact the day God set aside as the Sabbath is the 7th day. Let's find if there are any other days God said is a Sabbath;

[5] In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD's passover.

So the 14th day of the first month, according to God's calendar is God's Passover feast. But what about the next day? Let's read;

[6] And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.
[7] In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.

So the day AFTER the Passover is ALWAYS a Sabbath. It does not matter what day it falls on. Let's read more;

[8] But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD seven days: in the seventh day is an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.

So the last DAY, of the 7 day feast, is also a Sabbath. Let's continue;

[16] Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.

So the next day after seven Sabbaths, or the 50[sup]th[/sup] day, or the Day of Pentecost shall be a Sabbath, let's confirm;

[21] And ye shall proclaim on the selfsame day, that it may be an holy convocation unto you: ye shall do no servile work therein: it shall be a statute for ever in all your dwellings throughout your generations.

Notice any day we are not to do work is a Sabbath, according to the creator of the Sabbath. Let's continue;

[24] Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.
[25] Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.

In the 7th month, on the 1st day of the month, is a Sabbath. The Blowing of the Trumpets.

[27] Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
[28] And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the LORD your God.

And we have another Sabbath on the 10th day of the 7th month.

[34] Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the LORD.
[35] On the first day shall be an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
[36] Seven days ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: on the eighth day shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: it is a solemn assembly; and ye shall do no servile work therein.

And here we have 2 more Sabbaths; one on the 15th day of the 7th month. The first day of the Feast of Tabernacles. And one on last day of the Feast of Tabernacles, the 8th day.

Remember the one above…we’ll look at it again at the end of this lesson.

So along with God's 7th day Sabbath He also gives us 7 additional Sabbaths to be observed throughout the year. God sure does want us to remember something.

Now these are the ONLY Sabbaths given to us by God. So if anyone speaks of a Sabbath, in the bible it can ONLY be THESE!

Now let's read some more of what God's word says about HIS HOLY DAY;

Isa.56
[2] Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.
[6] Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant;
[7] Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.

Mark 2
[27] And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

So God's Sabbath is for ALL men.

Now let's read a scripture that many use to say ANY day can now be considered a Sabbath. But let's not forget, the ONLY Sabbaths given to us by the creator of the Sabbath are the weekly 7th day Sabbaths and the 7 yearly Sabbaths. NO OTHERS WERE GIVEN BY GOD AS SABBATHS!

Col.2
[16] Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

Now what Sabbath could Paul be speaking of? Only the ones given to him by God…those are the ONLY Sabbaths he knows! Now let's read if Paul said at ANYTIME God's sabbath was or could be changed.

Must we break down the verse to get an understanding? Let's do it;

(Let no man therefore judge you) So we are not to let what other say bother us or deter us, because we can't stop someone from judging us.

(In meat, or in drink) Don't let what others say about what we eat or drink bother us. But what did God say was ok to eat and drink? The foods He said were NOT an abomination and for the Levites, no strong drink.

(Or in respect of an holyday) Do not let what men say about the holyday you serve God on bother you. And what are the holy days God gave us? His feast days.

(Or of the new moon) Don't let what people say about you observing the new moon bother you. And what does the new moon have to do with serving God? It is how we are to determine when the month starts to observe God's feasts and holy days.

(Or of Sabbath days.) Do not let what people say about you observing God's Sabbath days bother you. And what are God's Sabbath days? He already gave them to us in Lev. The weekly Sabbath, observed on the 7th day and the 7 yearly Sabbaths. These are the ONLY Sabbaths God gave us, and we are not to let what anybody says deter us or upset us or bother us from doing what thus said the Lord.

Now what Sabbath days are we not to let men judge us by? THE ONLY ONES GIVEN TO US BY GOD!

And when did Paul say God changed His sabbath? Not once!

God NEVER said WE could choose the day to serve Him. He has already done that for us. This verse is NOT saying we can disregard the days God gave us as Sabbaths. It is simply saying that, of the days God gave us for Sabbaths, none is above the other. They are ALL the same and ALL just as important. As are holy days and new moons (the moon is what is used to determine the beginning of the month, thus establishing the day for the yearly Sabbaths)

Oh yeah…..remember God’s Holy day The Feast of Tabernacles? Well, let’s take a look at something ALL nations WILL be participating in.

Zech.14
[16] And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
[17] And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.
[18] And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
[19] This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.

Now this speaks of a time during Christ 1000 year rule here on earth. Notice it says that ALL nations shall keep the Feast.

Now if God is going to have ALL nations keep His feast day, what of His Sabbath Day? Do you think the day He said would be observed FOREVER, will be ignored?

Now there will be those that say just the opposite….but study God’s word for yourself…ALL of it, from Gen. to Rev. For God said…

“But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”

“And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.”

God’s laws were and are for ALL men. Then, now and in the Future!

So with all this being said, the true sabbath is on a saturday?? Why don't churches follow this rule???? Will we be condemned for not doing this?

There is no Sabbath command in the NT.

Colossians 2:16 (ESV)
[sup]16 [/sup]Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath.

Really? Does your family know how you feel?

Deuteronomy 13:6-10 (ESV)
[sup]6 [/sup]“If your brother, the son of your mother, or your son or your daughter or the wife you embrace or your friend who is as your own soul entices you secretly, saying, ‘Let us go and serve other gods,’ which neither you nor your fathers have known, [sup]7 [/sup]some of the gods of the peoples who are around you, whether near you or far off from you, from the one end of the earth to the other, [sup]8 [/sup]you shall not yield to him or listen to him, nor shall your eye pity him, nor shall you spare him, nor shall you conceal him. [sup]9 [/sup]But you shall kill him. Your hand shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people. [sup]10 [/sup]You shall stone him to death with stones, because he sought to draw you away from the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

There is no Sabbath command in the NT.

Colossians 2:16 (ESV)
[sup]16 [/sup]Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath.

Let's read the NEXT verse.

[17] Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

So all of what was done, even up to Paul's time was pointing to something that WILL be done in the future.

ALL of God's laws will be kept by ALL nations. But getting back to the sabbaths that Paul speaks of......

What were the ONLY Sabbaths that Paul knew? Where did Paul go to find the Sabbaths of God? Where would he find guidence and knowledge and from who could he take his example? Let's read them....

Mark 1
[21] And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught.

Mark 6
[2] And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?

Luke 4
[16] And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
[30] But he passing through the midst of them went his way,
[31] And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days.

Now let's read what Paul did....

Acts.13
[43] Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.
[44] And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.

Acts 16
[13] And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither.

Acts 17
[2] And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,

Acts 18
[4] And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.

Col.2
[16] Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

Now what Sabbath could Paul be speaking of? Only the ones given to him by God…those are the ONLY Sabbaths he knows! Now let's read if Paul said at ANYTIME that any of God's sabbaths was changed or could be changed.

Must we break down the verse to get an understanding? Let's do it;

These are the ONLY Sabbaths God gave us, and we are not to let what anybody says deter us or upset us or bother us from doing what thus said the Lord.

Now what Sabbath days are we not to let men judge us by? THE ONLY ONES GIVEN TO US BY GOD!

As are holy days and new moons (the moon is what is used to determine the beginning of the month, thus establishing the day for the yearly Sabbaths)

How can anyone get this......

"You can serve God on ANY day YOU choose."

From this.......

"Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:"

Espacially when the word "SABBATH" is used and the ONLY SABBATHS the writer knows are those given to him by God through His holy word?

Let's read the NEXT verse.

[17] Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

But not under the New Covenant. There is no Sabbath command in the NT.

Mark 1
[21] And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught

Acts 18
[4] And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.
.

Yeah, Paul was teaching those who were under THE LAW that they are no longer under THE LAW. Of course they met on their Sabbaths. That's why there is almost ZERO mention of the Sabbath after Acts.

Acts 15:5-10 (ESV)
[sup]5 [/sup]But some believers who belonged to the party of the Pharisees rose up and said, “It is necessary to circumcise them and to order them to keep the law of Moses.” [sup]6 [/sup]The apostles and the elders were gathered together to consider this matter. [sup]7 [/sup]And after there had been much debate, Peter stood up and said to them, “Brothers, you know that in the early days God made a choice among you, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe. [sup]8 [/sup]And God, who knows the heart, bore witness to them, by giving them the Holy Spirit just as he did to us, [sup]9 [/sup]and he made no distinction between us and them, having cleansed their hearts by faith. [sup]10 [/sup]Now, therefore, why are you putting God to the test by placing a yoke on the neck of the disciples that neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear?

Must we break down the verse to get an understanding? Let's do it;

But you don't 'break down' you demolish.

Since Paul called dietary restrictions "doctrines of demons" you can't be right.

The Sabbath is a work of THE LAW. Christians are not under THE LAW of Moses. We have the New Covenant. What you are preaching is "obsolete".

Hebrews 8:13 (ESV)
[sup]13 [/sup]In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete.

But not under the New Covenant. There is no Sabbath command in the NT.

But you don't 'break down' you demolish.

Since Paul called dietary restrictions "doctrines of demons" you can't be right.

The Sabbath is a work of THE LAW. Christians are not under THE LAW of Moses. We have the New Covenant. What you are preaching is "obsolete".

Hebrews 8:13 (ESV)

Ok, this much I understand. I know its a sin to kill lie and steal, and those were also commanded to us. Now when Jesus died, we were no longer bound by the law, we were given grace through him. But how can u be under grace if you dont keep the law. Jesus came not to ABOLISH the law, but to fulfill it. Meaning, only a perfect being can be perfect in keeping every command, we as sinners could not, but JESUS in all his perfection could. So he was a sacrifce, and through him we are saved. Now what is grace???? Grace is mercy, an estension for us to do it right. We dont live under grace if we are still out in the world sinning, but we are under grace, when we are being Obedient to god.
Matthew 22:37-40 (New International Version)

[sup]37[/sup] Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[sup][a][/sup] [sup]38[/sup] This is the first and greatest commandment. [sup]39[/sup] And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[sup][b][/sup] [sup]40[/sup] All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

SO basically, the ENTIRE law is summed up in these 2 commands. SO we are under grace by keeping the law. Nothing has changed, christs sacrifice just made it simpler hence the word "GRACE" The sabbath was apart of the law, so based off of scripture, where do we go with the SABBATH. This has been strong on m heart, I even asked god, but I cant seem to get a clear answer... The argument on this subject is strong, father god, please help us understand this, in Jesus' name, your will.

The sabbath is important because we see that God is a God of both works and rest. Does God need rest or sleep? But man does and we need to rely on the character, nature, and example God sets for us in order to survive and to thrive.

Mark 2:27 Then Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath was made to meet the needs of people, and not people to meet the requirements of the Sabbath.

The sabbath was meant to provide rest for hard working men and women who would otherwise not create the means to do so on their own. Not resting is destructive and not of God. Resting is an act of accepting God's provision and understanding that even when we are not working, God is in control and He is still providing for our needs. Jesus proved that if the sabbath requirement was ever not beneficial to the work required by God of Himself, then He would simply do the will of the father because the benefit of serving the needy is more important, and the law itself testifies that Christ fulfilled the sabbath better than the pharisees. Our rest is meant to better equip and supply our means to love one another and God as He intended. If Jesus denied healing the sick and doing God's will even on the sabbath, He would be guilty of disobeying the greatest law of "love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength, and love you neighbor as yourself," which the law of the sabbath is obedient to.

But a lot has changed from THE LAW of Moses. Do you really believe we must keep all of those commandments? We have the New Covenant. Why would God give us the New if we must keep the Old?

The Law is forever binding, if it was not, then there would have been no need for christ to fulfill it. The new covenant is saying, love god, how do we love him, by being obedient. If we break one command we are guilty of breaking them all.

Yes we are to obey the moral commands, do not lie, steal, commit adultery, etc. But Christians are not under 'the works of THE LAW'. I.E. circumcision, Sabbath, dietary, etc.

Galatians 3:10 (NKJV)

See, I just looked at another thread where it talks about Jesus has done it all for us, so we are to Live it through him. They mean that jesus kept all the commands because no man could, so it doesnt do any good to try to remain saved by doin physical works, sabbaths or other commandments. But then, how does not killing and not stealing come into play???? If grace is given only by being obedient, then what happens if ur not obedient, or do I have this wrong, please help me out.

I think a lot of our experience is like the Israelites after they entered the promised land. Even though God brought them there to live, they still needed to conquer God's enemies in the land. Everything was there for them to take, if they just had faith in God for it. As Christians, we have God's promised eternity living in our hearts. There are some Christians who think they can cheat God by committing sin and repenting afterwords to be free. Even if this is so, it would be missing the point, because God can't be cheated and he loses nothing if we disobey him (although grieving God deeply should be reason enough to refrain from this). We on the other hand lose out on the joy and peace and hope that comes with an intimate relationship with God. Some sin simply leads to our physical death and will cut God's work in our life short. Murder and suicide are sins that can end the physical life of someone early.

To some, faith itself can be considered a working requirement. But faith itself is dependency. Faith is like holding on to something really tightly and then letting go. It's kinda like rock climbing up a mountain; one that you will never be able to reach the top on your own. God is like a giant eagle waiting to catch you as soon as you are ready to let go in order to carry you to the top. Grace is like the distance of how far you were from the top of the mountain (I guess mercy is like how far you would have fallen if God didn't catch you); but even after you reach the top, grace encompasses the mystery of life and reward you can go on to experience after you made it. By grace Jesus made the way for us to not only receive salvation, but by His Holy Spirit to receive every spiritual blessing as children of God and coheirs with Christ.

Because of what Christ did for us, the point of our lives isn't so much to constantly pursue and maintain our salvation, however to constantly pursue and maintain a relationship with the love of our life who saved us. What we do is respond to what Christ did for us in love, thankfulness, and obedience. Our loving free-will will look like works because when we are in love with God, then we won't want to do anything to displease Him. His pleasure will be our highest goal, until one day our free will and God's will become the same and everything I want to do is everything God wants me to do and so the other way around. So that even if it is God's will for me to work hard or to suffer, I will still experience the greatest joy and peace in my heart because I have found rest in the will of God. That is true freedom.

We must understand the difference between the morals of THE LAW of Moses, and 'the works of THE LAW'. The NT confirms that lying, stealing, adultery, etc. are still sins. 'The works of THE LAW' are no longer in effect.

Ephesians 2:8-9 (ESV)
[sup]8 [/sup]For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, [sup]9 [/sup]not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Not by the works of THE LAW:

Colossians 2:16 (ESV)
[sup]16 [/sup]Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath.

Ok, I'm mega confused when it comes to the sabbath. You have one side saying that gods laws does not change and he established the sabbath at the beginning. Then there is the other side saying that GOD wont condemn you for worshiping him on a certain day. This stuff is confusing... I need some serious help on this topic.

what is written in the bible concerning the day to keep Holy? ECC gave you what is written in the bible.

Jesus had this written concerning the sabbath day

Ex 20

[sup]1[/sup]And God spake all these words, saying,

[sup]2[/sup]I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

[sup]3[/sup]Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

[sup]4[/sup]Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

[sup]5[/sup]Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

[sup]6[/sup]And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

[sup]7[/sup]Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

[sup]8[/sup]Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

[sup]9[/sup]Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

[sup]10[/sup]But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

[sup]11[/sup]For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

[sup]12[/sup]Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee
.

Jesus told us to remember that sabbath, why do we need to remember that sabbath? because people will come and change God laws.

Daniel 7:25
And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

most people on this earth keep other days holy except the 7th day which calls sabbath and we call Saturday.

So with all this being said, the true sabbath is on a saturday?? Why don't churches follow this rule???? Will we be condemned for not doing this?

Jesus said

John 14:15
If ye love me, keep my commandments.

do you love Jesus

if so keep his commandments

'Eccl.12:13' timestamp='1305576905' post='111136']

Must we break down the verse to get an understanding? Let's do it;

How can anyone get this......

"Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:"

Espacially when the word "SABBATH" is used and the ONLY SABBATHS the writer knows are those given to him by God through His holy word?

amen Brother

long after Jesus death and resurrection the apostles kept the sabbaths and taught the gentiles to do the same.

I don't get it. All everyone is doing is trying to use the word (Jesus) as a rule book. God has concluded that all men sin so He created a plan of salvation that does not depend on man's keeping rules. It all depends of whether a person puts their faith in what God did on the cross. He sent His Son to the Jews as the promised Messiah and they rejected Him and placed Him on the cross so now the only thing that saves a person is their placing their faith (Faith = Trust = Confidence) in His (Jesus') work on the cross. His plan addresses the weakness of the flesh to save it'self. All men/women are sinners and God's plan of Grace saves sinners.

Ok, but how do you get involved with god??? By just letting go of our selfish lives??? And what is it that we have to obey???? His word, his command? Christ says if you love me you will keep all my commands. Grace isnt a command... So there is a condition on all of the things we were promised right? God loves everyone one without a doubt, but there are concequences for those who dont obey. To god, lying and killing are the same, SIN is SIN, there is no sin greater, its just sin. You have to accept christ to have grace, mercy was christ taking the punishment for our sins, we as christians are just reaping the benefits. Still, that doesnt mean go do what you want, god will forgive you, thats not grace. JESUS said if you love me you will keep all my commands, I dont understand why there are sooo many mixed views on this if we all read the same Bible. How does god feel about this????? He sees the confusion and lack of understanding, how does he deal with us like this?????

Ok, I'm mega confused when it comes to the sabbath. You have one side saying that gods laws does not change and he established the sabbath at the beginning. Then there is the other side saying that GOD wont condemn you for worshiping him on a certain day. This stuff is confusing... I need some serious help on this topic.

first of all, keep in mind that the goal is to know God - this is 'life eternal'. in order to truly know Him, you must believe Him. belief in God (belief that His promises to you are true) is faith. whatsoever is not of faith (not of believing God) is sin. so sin is merely not believing God. all the things we call 'sins' are actually the result of the one sin of not believing God in one or more ways.

Jesus, as our substitute, fulfilled ALL the requirements of the 'law' for us, on our behalf; it's not what you do plus what Jesus did, it's what you do or what Jesus did - and if you choose to justify yourself with God (to know Him) based on what you do (such as keeping whatever your understanding of the Old Testament sabbath is, one day per week), then you must keep all other points of the 'law' perfectly - without a single exception in order to know Him - this is not possible - only Jesus (God with us) was, is or ever will be able to do this while in a flesh body. once reborn, your 'sins' (results of your not believing God in some way or ways) do not separate God from you (because He sees that Jesus, your substitute, has already paid the price for the 'sins' of the WHOLE world - past, present and future), but they can separate you from God (i'm not talking about going to hell, i'm talking about temporarily loosing fellowship with Him) only because condemnation over failing to keep the whole 'law' will cause you to withdraw from God IF you base your relationship with Him on what YOU do instead of or even in addition to what JESUS did on your behalf.

as you fellowship with God, He will lead you to fulfill the law as Jesus defined it (to love God with all your heart, soul, and mind; and love your neighbor as yourself). - the obedience that we (as reborn believers) are to keep is the obedience of fellowship with God based on our substitute's (Jesus') fulfillment of the whole law on our behalf. this fellowship must be based on belief in God's integrity, and in His unconditional love for us - faith. when we doubt His Living Word to us (His revelation to us of the meaning that the written word represents gained through fellowship with Him based on His Love for us ), this is sin - and it's already 'paid for' by Jesus from God's perspective.

'sabbath' means rest - we are to rest from our independent efforts to fulfill the 'law' and focus on thought-by-thought fellowship with God. When we mess up (and we all do) we are to immediately claim the righteousness of our substitute (Jesus) when the devil attempts to condemn us to cause us to withdraw from God.

This is what Jesus meant when He said that He was 'Lord of the sabbath' - that we are to cease from our own efforts (outside of fellowship with God) to justify ourselves to God, and focus on fellowship with God based on Jesus' sacrifice on our behalf. in this way, every day is our 'sabbath'.

hope that helps! if it rings true wih the Spirit of God in you, i'll be glad to add scriptre references.

GLY!!!
