Okay so now that the Christmas season has officially begun for me, I just have to ask this question. Why do a lot of Christians have such a problem with the jolly old fat guy in the red suit and black boots? Don't you guys realize that the spirit of Santa Claus and giving is what Jesus Christ is all about and what He taught?

Also the argument that Santa Claus is a "lie" we tell our children,.. there's a HUGE difference telling them a traditional story and telling them that it's real. They choose to believe it and it only becomes a lie when they're old enough to start asking questions and parents tell them that it's true. I was told about Santa Claus and his reindeer when I was a little kid and it didn't scar me for life. I say that as long as we tell our children what and WHO Christmas is really about to let them have fun and use their imaginations.

I would say that Santa Claus and gifts and candy canes, and reindeer, and elves, and good feelings, and "happy holidays" and lights and Xmas trees and snowmen and all the secular trappings have crowded out the fact that Christmas was established to celebrate the birth of the Savior.

Okay I agree with the fact that Christmas today has become a bit too commercialized,.. but I don't doubt that even Jesus as a child would have enjoyed a visit from Santa Claus as a child every year for His birthday. :) (And He was perfect so you know that He would have always made it onto the good list. :D)

Well birthday celebrations is a more modern invention but..

With my kids we celebrated Christmas as Jesus birthday! We had all the trappings (trees, lights and much much feasting of course). We would go to a tree farm , the kids picked out teh tree, cut it down and we brought it home. I let the kids decorate! Teh most beautiful homeliest tree you ever did see! :D

Day before the kids roganized and set out the snacks, we hung a happy birthday jesus banner, had a birthday cake for jesus and made merry. I taught the kids we give gifts to each other to remind us of the greatest gift ever given. when OUr Father in heaven gave us His son to save us!

Now my kids are carrying that on with their kids and they are just as excited as my kids were. We even sang happy birthday to jesus and every year we picked one child to blow out the candles.

True. It is, but not in the church.
But I don't see anything wrong with celebrating, such as presents and Christmas trees......

I have no problem with Santa, given two caveats (these apply to to my conduct, other people do what they do)-
1) Christ comes first. No crowding Him out.
2) Always acknowledging the whole flying reindeer and chimney thing is pretend.

And of course, try to keep the commercialization down.

Look,
Every year people talk about the commercialization of Christmas.

Even when there actually was a London Bridge. (Before it fell)
Long before Edison and light bulbs existed.
Before the invention of crackers. (Ask a Brit or Aussie)
But somehow...the original concepts of Who, What, When, Why, and How still gets through and everyone knows what is true vx myth.

So...
I don't care...Santa is a different form for Saint...and Moslems don't have saints... neither do Hindus or Buddhists.

Again...so this thing where people need to discover the obvious truth "behind the myths" is a fabrication of sorts. The myth is that everyone doesn't know. They just celebrate what they wish to.

I agree with everything else that you said but flying reindeer and going down the chimney is all a part of the legend lol except when I was a kid we didn't have a fireplace so Santa Claus always came to the front door.

Me either, as long as it doesn't become so secularized among believers!

Teh world I do not worry about, but as followers of Jesus, if we dive into teh crass commercialism of the world, it is just plain wring.

but I have a tree, decorations and give gifts to my wife, 6 kids and 9 grandkids Christmas the most expensive time of year but worth it:D

Also Santa is just a jumble of Satan! It is all in teh heart whether He is saint Nick or Satan claus.

Once again, for the world it matters little or nothing. For believers we must guard to not get caughtup in the commercialism and buy bigger, better more expensive every year and melt that old plastic from overuse.

Otherwise, let us celebrate a day to remember the greatest gift ever given--King Jesus as Savior and Lord!

Well, it's quite simple. People tell their children that Santa knows all like Jesus. Then when they find out that Santa is a fake, they think Jesus is a fake too.

Oh pleeeeeezzzzeee!!! I misspelled that on purpose it's supposed to be a Michelle Tanner quote. :D

Well it is S-A-N-T-A
S-A-T-A-N

Just commenting on a simple fact of spelling. Do I think Santa is a guise for Satan? Only if People place more value in him than in jesus! but tehn again a TV can be an idol and used by Satan just as well. Anything we place higher than God .

I was never like that because I was taught the difference that Santa is magic and just pretend but the whole entire Christmas spirit is real, as well as Jesus. Kids are a lot smarter than you think.

Well it is S-A-N-T-A
S-A-T-A-N

Sure is a funny thing to say for a legendary figure that is all about giving, peace, and love which is exactly everything that Jesus taught.

Well when teh Antichrist makes the scene, He is going to bring peace and safety and do lots of giving. He won't come with pitchfork and hornsand terrorize the world! He will woo them by incredible philanthropy.

He is going to enter a covenant with Israel for 7 years! He is going to be seen as Savior and Messiah by a deceived world. You don't get to that lofty height unless without giving, spreading peace, and a form of love that is empty.

But hey all I am saying is that even Jolly ole St. Nick can be overblown in the lives of believers! That is all.

Understood,.. but still,.. good grief! I'm not talking about you on this one,.. but people who think like that seem to be such snowflakes. Won't even let children be children and have fun and be taught to give onto others. (It sort of makes me a bit mad actually when people start talking about Santa Claus like that. If you don't want to have him a part of your Christmas tradition that's your right, but don't force it on other people by comparing Santa to the devil!! Again not talking about you on this one so you're good. :))

Santa is not a word jumble for Satan...
It's another form of the word Saint.
As in Saint Nicolas.
