Christ also fulfilled the 7th commandment right? I'm sure you're wife would be very interested if you apply your conclusions to that Commandment as you have the 4th.
What is common between the 4th and the 7th?
What differs between the 4th and the 7th?

AGREE, for it has been FULFILLED and ONLY in CHRIST
I have heard and read statements similar to that many many times. But like you, no-one has at any time actually explained what that means. What does fulfil actually mean?
TOUGH CHOICE @Marvelloustime @CTK , @Brakelite

CHRIST or saturday...........!!!

Choose you this DAY, whom you will serve = "Today , if you hear His Voice........"
Really? It's a choice between one or the other? How about exercising some real faith and choosing both?
For us who SEE................Christ
So. No explanation as to the meaning of fulfillment, except to suggest that such explanations are beyond the understanding of those who don't know Christ. I'm sure there a lesson in there for you. Let's see if you come to the same conclusion as may be obvious to the rest of us.

In common...
  • Both written in stone.
  • Both a part of ten.
  • Both righteousness.
  • Both integral to a right relationship.
  • Both (marriage and Sabbath) established before sin.
  • Neither were therefore established as a remedy to the sin problem. Those remedial commandments came later.
  • Neither pointed forward, but we're institutions designed to enhance relationships... With God and each Jesu other.
  • Neglect either of them, relationships suffer.
  • Both instituted by our Creator, who knows better than we do what's best for us.
  • Both honoured and upheld by Christ when on Earth.
  • Neither to be forgotten, ignored, redesigned, recalibrated, for those who call themselves children of Abraham. (See Galatians 3:7)
Differences...
  • Only one of them endures throughout all eternity. (See Isaiah 66:22,23)

Both Spoken by God to man
Both are part of the Ten
Both written in Stone
Only the 4th commands no work, only rest with penalty of death if broken

The 7th is a command between a husband and wife before God, with penalty of death if broken BUT you DO NOT lose your
citizenship with the Called Out Assembly

Both (marriage and sabbath rest) established before sin
Both (marriage and sabbath rest) REMAIN after sin
Both were established as a Remedy against sin
Only on the Sabbath God RESTED from His Work
Both look Forward and are The Gospel Message of HOPE, FREEDOM from SIN and Eternal LIFE

Only the Sabbath takes on NEW and EXTREME attributes beyond Genesis = Exodus 31:12-17
(compared to the 7th = example: multiple wives/concubines permitted, yet the sabbath remains unchanged)

Both remain as Commandments BUT only one has EXCEEDED it's original purpose by Transcending the earthly elements.
Only the REST is Commanded in the NT as REQUIRED for Salvation.

Its so simple indeed to show the SDA the error of their ways .
Because they themselves were taught
that paul was talking about the old sabbath , WHEN IT IS DARN CLEAR in hebrews HE was SPEAKING OF FAITH IN CHRIST .
So that is how easy it is to expose them right there .
AS far as to meats , drinks and days
To each his own , so long as they dont condmen the other .
BUT i know for a fact THE SDA church is wrong when they say
PAUL was talking about the actual sabbath in the law .
HE WAS Talking about entering INTO CHRIST , INTO HIS REST , FAITH IN HIM .
Try addressing him with that .

If CHRIST is not God's REST then Hebrews chapter 4 would NEVER of been written.

The Jews in JESUS & Apostle days were abiding in the saturday commandment but they REFUSED the Commandment of REST
For anyone who adds to the finished work of CHRIST is refusing to REST from work/religion = just as God RESTED in Sending His SON
SEE the difference @Brakelite

Also, SHALOM to you @Brakelite and @BarneyFife
