Before my post, I want to show this information I found off of Mars Hill Church's (Seattle- not to be confused with Mars Hill with Rob Bell) Website. This is the information I read: In Paul’s day, he accused some people of worshiping their stomachs as their god, and in our day it appears that our god has simply moved a short distance south. Americans spend more money each year on pornography than country music, rock music, jazz music, classical music, Broadway plays, and ballet combined. Additionally, some researchers have even said that we spend more money on pornography than we do on professional baseball, basketball, and football combined. Clearly, perversion is officially America’s favorite pastime and a ten-billion-dollar business. The annual rentals and sales of adult videos and DVDs now top four billion dollars annually. Fully eleven thousand porno movies are made every year, twenty times the number of mainstream movies made by Hollywood! The porn industry now claims over 30 percent of all video rentals on the east and west coasts. Nationally, there are now over 2,400 strip clubs. Some of those clubs generate as much as eight million dollars a year in revenues and employ as many as two hundred dancers. On the Internet, the top word searched for is “sex,” with “porn,” “nude,” “Playboy,” and “erotic stories” also in the top twenty. Furthermore, 70 percent of porn traffic occurs between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. while people are sitting at work unable to focus on their job because the god of Eros continually beckons. The top research priority in the porn business is getting good quality porn to a cell phone or mobile device so that everyone can feed any twisted desire anytime and anywhere. The National Council on Sexual Addiction Compulsivity estimated that 6 to 8 percent of Americans are sex addicts, which is 16 to 21.5 million people. Their numbers include young people. Sixty-one percent of all high school seniors have had sexual intercourse, about half are currently sexually active, and 21 percent have had four or more partners. Adolescents have the highest sexually transmitted disease (STD) rates. Approximately one out of four sexually active adolescents becomes infected with an STD each year, for a total of three million cases. People under the age of twenty-five account for two-thirds of all STDs in the United States.By their graduation date, students will have watched fifteen thousand hours of television, compared to only twelve thousand hours in the classroom. While watching, they will see fourteen thousand sexual references every year, with only 165 of those occasions encouraging birth control, self-control, abstinence, or mentioning anything about the risk of pregnancy or STDs.Undeniably, people are worshipers and will worship someone or something.Now... onto my post:Today I started observing all the different kinds of things said by my classmates. I was utterly astounded by the amounts of sexual connotations and insults that were thrown around. Most were in jest, of course; but I was thoroughly surprised by the sexual terminology used. I find this true not only amongst my fellow classmates but in our culture and society. Actually, it is our culture that is infecting our society and the lives of my classmates.Sex is something wonderful created by God. Sex was created to repopulate the Earth but the pleasure of sex was intended to bond and strengthen the marriage between two people. Sex feels so good because it is intended to bring and bond people together. Sex was never intended to be performed or even considered without the confines of marriage. Our culture has taken sex (outside of marriage) and made it out to be something it’s not. Now, instead of uniting two people within a marriage, it is binding people to themselves and pornographic images. Our minds are being attacked on a day by day basis by sexual thoughts, lusts, and images. Sex has become this addiction that is ruining lives, marriages themselves, and distorting the wonderful experience of sex.Our culture worships sex. That is the problem. Our society has made sex a religion and left God out of it. People toward strive for sex. Live for sex. Dream of sex. Work for sex. Worship sex. Now, we have tv shows based strictly on sex. Magazines are being sold strictly showing sexual images. Sexual videos are sold in the millions each year. Sex has become a dominant idol in our culture and society. What is wrong with all this? If sex is made by God, and it feels good… why is it wrong to think sexually, or perform sexual actions. (Intercourse, masturbation, and whatever people do these days) Why are these things wrong?Ok… well there are literally hundreds of reasons, but I really feel we should focus in on one of them. Sex as a religion. When we have sexual thoughts, or perform sexual actions, we are making that our God. We are putting these things BEFORE God. God tells us to put Him first. By performing anything sexual, outside of marriage, is putting that before God. Simply, we are worshipping that instead of God.What’s the big deal? Sex binds us. Masturbation binds us. Intercourse or anything sexual binds us. It begins to control us; to consume us. Before long, we start focusing on these thoughts more than we do of God and his Kingdom. It rules our lives.Where are you today? I can’t believe I wrote all these things, when I myself have been guilty of lustful thoughts and masturbation, but I think they need to be said. We need to break free from these addictions and finally put God first. We are not fully putting God first if we struggle in one major area. God wants us to surrender this area… and He wants to help you do it. As an 18 year male, this is not very easy to do with today’s sexual culture but I want to stop and I want to fully surrender. I want God to be number 1. Do you?

The thing is, pornography, media, and even the people in charge have one goal, to bring our focus away from god, and down to the worldly things around us. A focus on the now, and the self, immediate gratification, and its acceptance is our new god. It is called humanism, and alot of our rulers are followers of this cult. Absolutely nothing is safe, beastiality, child abuse, pornography, nothing, we must accept everything, or else we are going to damage someones self esteem. Depression is very high, drugs are used for everything, there are more disorders mentally now than ever. What is all of this, but a focus on the self? If you are depressed, you are inwardly focused. God is the answer to alot of problems, but the world is everywhere now. Computers can touch anything, and get you anything, RIGHT NOW! This is a huge problem. I read a book on this, we need to get into leadership, politics, school boards, PTO's, we need to be involved in alot of things and make changes. The sad thing is, Christians will hold alot of meetings, planning sessions, and sink alot of time and resources into things that really don't get to the big picture. We really need to get active, we need to get involved, and find our Holy Discontent (Bill Hybels). God Bless us and protect us.

Having worked in a Manuel industry all my life working life, talk is always Sex and football, and They talk about nothing else even the womenI have had to turn a blind ear to it without letting it get a grip on me. They swear every other word, i don't at all. Only if I hit my thumb with a hammer, and then only mildly. But look around there are people like you in there only you don't notice them until you look. We only tend to hear the one's we don't want to hear.At 18 it is hard and i wouldn't want to go back there, Don't worry about your slip ups most of us have been there, you know the direction that you want to go in and thats half the battle.good luck.

Its difficult, i will have to say. Its probably the biggest battle ground on which the war within the man takes place. Its difficult to get to safe ground (marriage) and even if you make it there without getting into sex outside, if you and your wife don't like your sex life. Then you will be in danger of adultery. So I don't know, just no matter what keep living in faith and keep on going no matter what happens.

Hi SillySeth,What a wonderful post you made here! You obviously are more sensitive to God's laws and His holy nature than you are to what you see going on around you and also to what you feel in your own body. You're on the right track. Stay there. Read God's Word daily and memorize certain Scriptures that you feel apply to you, and you will be amazed at the self-contol God will build into your life . . . not only self-control, but power to live God's continuing desire for your very best good. If you are a believer in Jeus Christ, you no longer belong to yourself. (1Corinthians 6:17-20) says, "But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God?You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body."Read and memorize Psalm 119:9, "How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word." Read the Bible every day as a lifetime habit and see the dramatic changes God will empower you with in time.waynemlj

You have much wisdom for your age. :blessyou:Let me tell you, it doesn't get a whole lot easier as you grow older either. The glamorization of sex is everywhere. Lust is probably one of the hardest things to resist but if we stay grounded in the word and our walk with the Lord, we can overcome. Remember, temptation is not sin, for even Jesus was tempted (but without sin).

I'm 17 and I stopped when I was 16. I figured I can give God my 100% and be eligible to going to heaven. Or not give my 100% and risk eternal damnation. There are only two choices.

Sex as a religion? At my age, I guess that lets me out!

Seriously, people must be addicted to porno on the Internet to endure all the viruses and spyware and other things that come with it. The malware writers use this base nature to get their dastardly deeds done to infect computers. Seemingly, they know the perverted desire is stronger than the fear of getting a virus, and it benefits their end, whatever twisted, underhanded goal they have. Now for me, there's no woman in this whole wide world beautiful enough to warrant infecting my computer. I guess I love my computers more than a pretty lady, but at least I use it for good, like communicating on Christian forums.

HelloMy parents dont talk about sex, and in church the subject it not appropriate. So I go on the internet to know about sex.I`m 17 and I`ve learned alot on the internet. I know that people tie each other up when having sex, and they like to wear shiny black clothing with metal rings. But I`ve never seen a black shiny dress in my mothers closet.Sometimes they have sex with horses and dogs, but I dont think my parents have sex with my dog or cat. I would`nt. But adults seem to think a different way.So pornography is a good way for me to know about sex. But sex is not a religion. It`s just an activity, like getting spanked or tied up, I saw it. It`s simple.

I have seen many things and heard of many things. What your saying is not sex but a fetish within sex, meaning it is not what all people do in sex, but some do because it is their thing. Sex is where two people have sexual contact, i will not go further into explaining this for it is inappropriate for this site. Learning about sex on the internet is probably not the best way to learn it, for it may lead you down the wrong road. I believe your parents should explain it to you rather than have you find out about it on your own.
