The Gods - The eternal knowledge and spirit we share with the Gods

Animals - Such pleasures are temporal, leaving us ahungered
The Gods - Such pleasures are eternal, leaving us sufficed

And Again...

Animals - Material and physical needs
The Gods - Intellectual and Spiritual needs

Animal pleasures without Godly wisdom are pleasures that are never long lasting. Animal pleasures also take away from heavenly intellectual knowledge and spiritual experience resulting in complicated unhappiness.

I took care of my dad until he passed away last year. My dad was terribly adulterous but was also someone easily influenced to church. It was the battle of the two worlds, the Spirit and the flesh, until he passed away last year. We should not forget that sex is our physiological need and the way to the main instinct of reproduction. And marriage is essentially a formal contract invented or imposed by society. The main thing is that you and your partner are happy with everything, and everything else is trivial.

Sex before marriage is the sin of fornication in the Bible.

I launched a topic about this question and our modern misconceptions about ancient sexual practices.

Did Jesus say that adultery is grounds for divorce? - Nope.

The position of the church and society at large is mistaken as to what Jesus was quoted as saying in the gospels. IMHO Let's discuss. Questions: 1) What did Jesus actually say? 2) Why did he say it? 3) If we got this wrong, where do we go from here? The position of the church and society...

I am not saying that faith is bad, but it is different levels of our perception of the world and interaction with it. There is Maslow's pyramid of needs, and it is not for nothing that sex is on the first level, along with the need for breath, water, food and sleep, and morality is on the last.

All Social mammals instinctively want stuff, like food and sex. They live hierarch groups based on Might Makes Right. Each member (herbivore, carnivore, omnivore) must look to its own needs, and be prepared to Use force to obtain them. Passing genes to the next generation is generally limited to alpha males.

Humans can be better: Sharing & Caring; Gentle & Peaceful; and embracing the nuclear family as the foundation for the best society, where a nuclear family is made up of a woman and a man in a life-long, monogamous, faithful marriage. In other words, in a public ceremony for everyone in the community to see, a couple promises to cherish each other as they engender the next generation.

People can and should do better than behave like other social mammals.

Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

To "do Righteousness" as Jesus is Righteous, can't be done by your works, or your self righteousness.

The verse says to do Righteousness.. meaning..= AS : CHRIST IS RIGHTEOUS.. (even as JESUS is Righteous".... and the only way a person can do that, is to be "in CHRIST", and that is not related to law, commandments, water baptism, or trying to be good.
