I don’t understand why people feel the need to talk down to others online. If you can’t get along with someone, you can simply ignore them instead of attacking them. But online, people seem more prone to hostility — they’ll even attack the character of God and act like it’s acceptable. I won’t pretend I never get offended; things like that are genuinely irritating. Especially when people claim that God is violent, or that Jesus promotes violence because He mentioned a sword. Those ideas are simply not supported by Scripture.

God is love (1 John 4:8). Yes, Scripture shows God expressing anger, grief, and jealousy — but none of that makes Him a violent God in the human sense. Human violence is impulsive, chaotic, and rooted in sin. God’s actions are rooted in justice, righteousness, and covenant faithfulness. Even when His people failed Him repeatedly, He continued working with them, calling them back, and showing mercy (Exodus 34:6–7; Nehemiah 9:17).

The story always pointed toward a climax — the moment Yahavah promised when the Word became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14). Jesus reveals God’s true nature: “Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father” (John 14:9). And Jesus Himself says, “I am gentle and lowly in heart” (Matthew 11:29).

So when people insist that God is violent, or that Jesus endorses violence, it’s concerning. Jesus rebuked Peter for using the sword: “Put your sword back in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword” (Matthew 26:52). That alone dismantles the idea that Jesus wanted His followers to be violent.

The “buy a sword” passage (Luke 22:36) is symbolic — Jesus even says “It is enough” when they produce two swords, showing He wasn’t preparing them for battle. It was about being prepared for hardship, not harming others.

What concerns me is this: people think my belief in Jesus having already come is strange, yet they see no issue believing God Himself behaves violently like humans do. If someone believes it’s acceptable to react violently because “that’s how God is,” that’s far more troubling. It doesn’t align with the God revealed in Christ.

“The wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.”
— James 1:20

“The Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.”
— Luke 9:56

That’s the Jesus I follow — not a violent one, but a just and merciful one.

If you consider ignoring others who point out your misuse of scripture, by taking verses completely out of context to support your beliefs, as “foolish, ignorant controversies,” and as being in the presence of a fool, then you simply have proven what I said.

It’s a shame and a disgrace to the name of Christ that several people in these forums are so dishonest and disrespectful in their posts to others, displaying enormous spiritual pride and self-righteousness, even misusing scripture in doing so.
Fortunately for us, you are the GOTO who understands Scripture that applies to us today in exact & accurate detail, even better than Paul himself did :)

James 1:26 If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless.
As my walk with Christ matured, I was amazed to discover rampant IDOLATRY in Christendom.

As a child, seeing the 10 Commandments movie I didn't get idolatry, making golden statues and worshipping inanimate objects. Realizing it is placing anything manmade above God - sex, drugs, money, power. However, IDOLATRY has always been primarily a religious perversion. It's not just the areligious who are guilty of IDOLATRY.

With the rise of evil feminism, Christendom has created a feminized IDOL of Jesus, one whose sugar and spice and everything nice. Pointing out that he's destined to kill more people than anyone is cavalierly dismissed as taking Scripture out of context. But if you notice, they don't explain how. They really just want to ignore that part of God's word.

And his father too has been emasculated; he's reduce to the Greek goddess of Venus, the love God. "God is love" they scream. That's not half the Gospel. This love God loves justice, commands us to do justice. And what's more, his pursuit of justice is something we SHOULD fear! How do we know this? Because our Lord, our master, our guide told us to fear the one who can destroy our soul, not just our body.

Women want to feel safe all the time but the sin is putting emotion over reality; sometimes you should not feel safe BECAUSE you are not safe. Cultural Marxists pervert healthy fear. They call it phobia, which is irrational fear. The Bible doesn't shy away from rational fear and acting prudently in the face of it. Our secular world recoils at even the possibility one can have a healthy relationship with one you're afraid of. Scripture says many times the beginning of wisdom is fear of the LORD. This has no practical application to those who worship a feminized IDOL. Exposing this is why they react in such an ugly, hate-filled manner.

The great philosopher of our time, Mike Tyson, has the answer. The problem with social media is there is no chance to get punched in the mouth for saying something disrespectful. :tiphat:

Not quite the same thing as condemning his friends for already having a sword, is it?

And don't fool yourself. They didn't have symbolic swords. Peter didn't cut the guards ear off with a symbolic sword.

That’s okay, you’ll remain there, @Wrangler.

I don’t want to talk to some of the people on here that act the way they do.

People should be accountable and responsible for themselves.

You got a thousand people watching.

Be authentic or dont is the real choices we have.

Thanks for loving me, I forgive and love you too but leave me alone.

Thank you!

I don't know how feminism enters into this.

I'd rather stay on topic please.

I think you're witnessing the fulfillment of the warning from Jesus regarding those who would twist his words to their own purpose.

Mark 7
"‘They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’ You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.”

On the street then? I'd have to ask the would be evil doer to me or mine:
"Could ya wait a coupla minutes, so I can go back to the house and grab my pistol, because I haven't a "C&C Permit?"
Do you think he'd wait?
Do you think I'd come back? :jest:
Ted Nugent is aways armed.when asked if he has a CC permit he answered yes.
The United States Constitution.

Well, we know how the early believers responded to persecution: They prayed for their persecutors as they were being fed to lions or burned alive.
And I believe you are free to pray while an armed home invader proceeds to kill your entire family and yourself.

I believe you are free to pray while watching an assassin shoot babies and elderly in front of you if you're on the same street as they.

I do not believe you have a right to insist anyone else do the same.
