Agreed. I see that idolatry with
@Aunty Jane where she claims only military action explicitly commanded by God - as in the OT -is permissible despite NT verse saying where there is freedom, there is the spirit of the Lord, etc.
Like all freedoms given to man, God is the one who sets the limits. There was freedom in the garden of Eden too, but it was conditional.....you apparently want freedom to be unconditional to the point where your will can dictate to God.....sorry, but your assumed position will come to disappointment....wait and see.
She just scoffs when I point out Scripture does not say to use the internet but she does. Scripture doesn’t say to brush her teeth, but she does. This shows she picks and chooses how rigidly to only do what God explicitly commands.
I can’t believe you said that.....this kind of reasoning is extremely immature, (grasping at straws) but not unexpected from someone with an agenda to support....did you read @soberxp’s post as you said you would?
Again if you did, you have ignored all the evidence that demolished your arguments for bloodshed.....OR you simply dismissed them as irrelevant.....not surprising either way. Blind justification works for people who want to dictate the terms of their “Christianity” to God. (Quotation marks for emphasis)
What is especially vexing for a group that calls themselves Jehovah Witnesses, deny modern day saints who witness and testify to God’s Providence and direction in modern times. That’s extreme idolatry, to hold parchment over the living God!
On the contrary, we acknowledge the true “saints” that the Bible speaks about.....not the ones with blood on their hands, but those whose blood is on the hands of others who want to justify their bloodshed. What do you think a martyr is?
That “parchment” is FROM “the living God”.....it’s his instruction manual....and if his instructions are not followed, he has no place for the disobedient ones who think they know better that he does. (Matt 7:21-23)
To compare to my own testimony; the Spirit of God commanded me to give a warning to my doctor ahead of his missionary trip to Haiti. I could restrain myself in rationalizing nothing like this is stated in Scripture. Instead, I obeyed the Living God even though doing this is not in Scripture.
Oh, so now we see the root of the problem....personal experience with the Holy Spirit.....?
No consideration for all the millions who claim similar experiences but can never understand how the devil uses these ‘supernatural’ ways to convince those people that God is using them as an instrument for good, even though so many others claim the same kinds of experiences......there is no proof that these experiences are from the true God, but the deceiver is “the god of this world”...remember? He can “blind minds”, not just eyes. (2 Cor 4:3-4)
He also disguises himself as something he is not....
“...for Satan himself keeps disguising himself as an angel of light. 15 It is therefore nothing extraordinary if his ministers also keep disguising themselves as ministers of righteousness. But their end will be according to their works.” (2 Cor 11:14-15)
Do you see that their ”works” will betray them.....they will go against what God’s word says in order to carry out their own misguided will......as you will soon see...that is a big mistake.
“Do not be misled: God is not one to be mocked. For whatever a person is sowing, this he will also reap; 8 because the one sowing with a view to his flesh will reap corruption from his flesh, but the one sowing with a view to the spirit will reap everlasting life from the spirit. 9 So let us not give up in doing what is fine, for in due time we will reap if we do not tire out. 10 So, then, as long as we have the opportunity, let us work what is good toward all, but especially toward those related to us in the faith.” (Gal 6:7-10)
Doing good, for Christians, does not relate to the use of carnal weapons.
“Return evil for evil to no one. Take into consideration what is fine from the viewpoint of all men. 18 If possible, as far as it depends on you, be peaceable with all men. 19 Do not avenge yourselves, beloved, but yield place to the wrath; for it is written: “‘Vengeance is mine; I will repay,’ says Jehovah.” 20 But “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by doing this you will heap fiery coals on his head.” 21 Do not let yourself be conquered by the evil, but keep conquering the evil with the good.” (Rom 12:17-21)
In pointing to victims of deception, are you in fact one yourself?
God’s spirit does not override his word, nor does it contradict it.
The Bible tells us all we need to know....but if you can’t be told....so be it.
Argue with the Scriptures Wrangler....not me.
