imo this last reflection is projecting something onto Jesus that likely is not true in the way that the statement suggests, imo. Jesus prayed for stuff that was not in God's will too, right, once anyway, sort of. right?

Something in Jesus knew he had add those last words to his prayer:

"...nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt."

The prayer itself admitted of the flesh of Jesus that was very tempted find a way to avoid the torture and pain which was set before him. He knew that part of the Father's plan. His flesh rebelled as ours would in similar circumstances. How many of us would sincerely add that last phrase leaving it to the Father to decide?

God really wants us to come to Him as a child, but that is, as I see it, to be on a daily basis for as long as we have time. But... because we have experience as "Christians", we never want start again from the bottom. [Kind of like the old child's game of Mother May I] We always to take up our story just where we left off yesterday. We forget...

"But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.
For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted." Luke 14:10-11

hmm, ok

Pharaoh already had a hard heart and an inclination to harden it even harder. God simply used what was there already to accomplish the work. People point a finger at a "devil" or "satan" or "lucifer" when the primary source of the trouble is likely with "yours truly". Don't tell anyone who may be offended that I said that.

imo something in the reporting of this incident should tell us who the prayer was really for lol, but, adhering to the pov of Literal History, ...ya, i just can't even do that anymore, sorry. Or, i guess Jesus must have known that His private moment with God here was going to be overheard, by ppl who were asleep, is the best i could do i guess

ha well you overcame my little setup there for pt2 lol, nice, i shoulda hit someone else with that i guess, but anyway ya, we can observe a Body of adults working together toward a common end don't really need to talk much at all, right, after the first...i dunno, year or so, anyway, yes? When you know someone well enough, you can read their mind. And we are called to become like little children, as you say. So Paul's passage "When i was a child" should be understood in the context of the whole chapter; wherein all of the adult stuff is subtly dismissed, and all of the stuff that little children do natch is all that's left. the old wine is better, they say :)

too late for what, though? and also too late for whom? bc other ppl, witnesses, are pretty much intrinsic to the issue, right. What we might perceive as being "too late" for them is also surely a learning aid for all of the witnesses, right? Iow we perceive the sin abounding, but maybe overlook the grace abounding more, which is harder to see many times, imo. Except in hindsight, huh, it often clarifies then

Even so! People are not usually so insincere in their actions or inactions that they would say or believe that they were playing games. Probably some would believe that you and I are also playing games here. This is perhaps why doctrine, as I see it, is so very unimportant to God in the final judgment.

Yes, some insist that much, or even all, of what Jesus said in the gospels was directed only to certain delegated recipients instead of to everyone who would read the written record. I just cannot believe that that is so.

It is probably like those who would have been sent to the area with the lions if they had stood on the truth which they previously confirmed. But then when it became a matter of life or death for their flesh...?

There were certainly some real martyrs, but likely there were also were many who talked the talk, but failed to walk the walk. Peter's example comes to mind:

"Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples." Matt 26:35
