Ahh, I have noticed this, too. Sounds sometimes more like indirect love songs, can be mistaken for whoever.

I like this one.

@FluffyYellowDuck I guess the context of Song of Solomon is relevant; ostensibly it's a love poem, but underlying it are lessons about devotion to the Lord. (Personally I think it relates to Israel rather than the church, although applications can be made to the church).

There are lots of lovely Christian songs that we listen to on CD or sing in Church meetings but not all of them give direct praise, worship or thanksgiving to God.

Some of them are prayers; like Abide with me.
Some of them speak of God but not directly to him; like How great the Father's love for us.
And some are scriptures set to music; like Seek ye first the kingdom of God.

And I sure you can think of many others but can you think of any that directly praise, thank or worship him; like How great thou art or Thank you Jesus? Think carefully.
We exalt thee.

I get the point - would we rather have our friends talk about us, or to us?

Would God rather hear songs about Him, or to Him from His children?

I've thought of that too,

I change lyrics to make songs to God, instead of about Him.

Churches could do that, too.

Like this:

Jehovah Jireh, my provider, your grace is sufficient for me, for me, for me.

Jehovah Jireh, my provider, your grace is sufficient for me.

Lord God you provide all my needs, according to your riches in glory- you give your angels charge over me.

Jehovah Jireh you care for me, for me, for me

Jehovah Jireh you care for me.

Oh hallelujah, hallelujah - hallelujah, praise you Lord X 2

True Pearl,
I just don't know where to look for songs that have all lyrics to Him...just shows we are or can be still very selfish, to have written songs basically to edify ourselves. But then singing the things He has done for us, I do see that as being biblical.

Yes, I have found it difficult too, but that is the point of the thread. So many great songs but hard to find ones that address God or Jesus directly.

I think that would be praise but I think that worship is when we address him directly.
