Without getting into a discussion about that which must not be discussed:

”Goofball Jesus” -> “Goofball God”

Tune in tonight at (insert time) on (insert media info) for more great entertainment.

That gets a hard pass from me.

Though Jesus tells his disciples to be like children, it seems its also imporant to still become mature, from a child of God to a Son or daughter of God.

There is also a scripture you may know off hands about “not being to wise, and not being to foolish”, there should be a balance. I could also be remembering the wording incorrectly.

All in good faith,
Matthew

Surely those lampooning Jesus would be his enemies, not his disciples.
.....and if Jesus turned up in downtown wherever, who do you think will be foremost in getting rid of him?

The revered teachers, priests, lawyers, scribes, leaders, those with the degrees and self advertised status.....yup, those who figured they had the right angle in Jesus time......the 'guardians' of the faith, the disciples of 'truth' They were the culprits. Satan had hidden himself in piety and properness!

Would it be different today?

They weren’t his disciples.

The implication in your comment is that those today with the credentials you specified and who say they are his disciples aren’t.

It has been asserted multiple times now - as if it were an indisputable fact - that God has called Jenkins (and his team of writers, actors, etc.) to provide this “entertainment.” Jenkins himself thinks so.

Is it a fact that this is what God has done?

“We operate from this question: Is this plausible. Whatever we write, if it didn’t come from scripture, is this plausible, culturally, historically? And does it fit within the character Amd intentions of Jesus and in the gospels, even if it’s not directly from them, or even if we don’t know if it’s a fact or not?”

(Dallas Jenkins, in an interview)

”That’s some shrewd sleight-of-hand to avoid having to answer the question, ‘Is this biblical?’ But I hope that you’re able to glean from this critique that even what Jenkins would call ‘plausible’ is not biblically plausible.”

If I were to ask the Baptist pastor who wrote this, “Is it a fact that God called Jenkins (and his team) to do this?” - what would he reply?

What is the likelihood that he would reply, “It’s an indisputable fact that God called him to do it”?

thank you for the decoy

I’ll stick with @Wrangler. At least he knows that The Chosen isn’t about the Bible and Jesus.

He believes it will direct people to the Bible and Jesus. It might or might not. I believe there is a much better way to do that.

Viewers of the program are filling their minds with fiction.

And many of them are deceiving themselves, believing they are filling their minds with the Bible and Jesus.

The Chosen is not about the Bible” - @Wrangler

That’s advertising for The Chosen that I’m onboard with.
