I saw this advert for a church that supposedly is modeled on Acts 2. Really? And what do they do that resembles the major revival that kickstarted the faith on Earth?
They hold to the doctrine of tongues.
That's it.
And doing this compares with the power exhibited in Acts?
Really.
The problem, as I see it, is what we claim is exaggerated...and the actual content is so much less than what God expects of us. We can point to what we are doing...but what are we leaving undone?
I agree, that what we claim is exaggerated and the actual content is so much less than what God expects of us.
Somewhere it was also said that God is easy to please, but hard to satisfy but the “few” will master the challenges He gives us.
I personally wish I could claim with no exaggeration that I esteem His word more than my necessary food or if He slay me, yet will I trust Him.
I can’t, but I can claim that my masquerade is coming off and self-complacency has been dealt a death-blow along with my flesh being exposed.
I never thought I’d be so thankful for that!
I’m also very thankful that true men of God don’t draw others to themselves but to HIM!
But if we truly love the truth...we will put the truth before our own safety or assurances. We will trust God with where we are presently...and look to Him for guidance into more of Him.
