This post deals briefly with the promised, prophetic kingdom of Israel.
[2Samuel 3:10 KJV] 10 To translate the kingdom from the house of Saul, and to set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, from Dan even to Beersheba.........there was war between the house of Saul and the house of David.
[2Samuel 5:3-4 KJV] 3 So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD: and they anointed David king over Israel. 4 David [was] thirty years old when he began to reign, [and] he reigned forty years..........David was made king over Israel.
God said that the throne of his kingdom would be established forever............[1Kings 9:5 KJV] 5 Then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom upon Israel for ever, as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel.
[1Chronicles 22:10 KJV] 10 He shall build an house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I [will be] his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.
The Lord Jesus Christ will reign upon the throne of David over his kingdom..............[Isaiah 9:7 KJV] 7 Of the increase of [his] government and peace [there shall be] no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
[Mark 11:7, 9-10 KJV] 7 And they brought the colt to Jesus, and cast their garments on him; and he sat upon him. ... 9 And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna; Blessed [is] he that cometh in the name of the Lord: 10 Blessed [be] the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest............Jesus presented himself to Israel. In verse 10 the crowd acknowledged that the kingdom of David was to be realized with the Lord Jesus.
[Acts 1:6 KJV] 6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?............Not only the crowds who saw Jesus on the colt anticipated the coming kingdom on earth, but the disciples did as well.
Scripture speaks of the establishment of the kingdom on earth. The kingdom hasn't come, but it will be established.
Israel, including the disciples knew there would be a kingdom for them.
The body of Christ has not been promised an earthly kingdom, but rather a heavenly kingdom........[2Timothy 4:18 KJV] 18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve [me] unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom [be] glory for ever and ever. Amen.
