Lao-Tzu said... "Sages have no strange clothes or weird behavioral patterns."

In Christianity I have run into, "weird behavioral patterns" my share of times. It does not seem to come from doctrine, bible versions, or teaching. It seems like people were just born that way, or brought up under a terrible set of circumstances. A true sage, or man of true wisdom, in my mind, is someone who truly has been saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Spirit.

It has been unfortunate in my travels to have run into terrible people. I wish I could say something like, "read this version of the Bible and you will attain perfection." But that has never been the case.
In sharing Bible scripture and memories I was also reminded of the less than ideal people who can come across our way. All within the same mental state of mind! I hate that can be a case! When shaking a family tree one has to be careful not to shake too hard! There can be some bad apples as well as good along with it!

So, yes, the words found in a real bible that Paul defines as "we preach Christ crucified" have the power to save you
They are all “real” Bibles. The IDOLATRY of KJVO is to suppose this saving power only resides in one translation.

the IDOLATRY of the KJVO-ism crowd.

You like to throw that word around a lot.

But do you idolize “original manuscript” pedantry?

If only Christ wrote a book rather than die on a cross ...

It was because of that book (KJV) that I was saved for sure. The NIV didn’t do that for me (and I started out with the NIV).

Sure, the NIV started me on the path, but the KJV put the conviction in me.

Nope. It's the winning argument. You don't get to decide what translations other people decide to read OR what their reason is for making that choice.

Obviously, you have a total lack of respect for other people's opinion. Other people don't want to even attempt to read an archaic work. PERIOD. And I don't blame them.

I read for me not you. If you say it's not that hard to read, good on you. It's not even subjective. The translation is obsolete. It is unreasonable to keep pushing it. All you're doing is causing division among God's children. Your IDOLATRY is on display. It's pathetic.

I like the KJV as my Preference. I do have progressed Bible versions, while some claiming easier to read, I find the words to be minced, having words that have progressed into multiple meanings that convolute original intent.

Every day in usual conversations we use words in a minced fashion that literally mean the complete opposite.

Gay, jovial …. is now queer.

Queer, odd… is progressively projected as normal.

Sick, ill…is projected as Impressive.

Cool / Hot…is projected as very attractive.

Average…is projected as Excellent.

It’s a matter of Each his own Choice in all things, including Bible Versions.

Glory to God,
Taken

Confession of IDOLATRY. If only Christ wrote a book rather than die on a cross ...

What does MMS refer to?
If you are at this level of discussion you should know this. Majority Manuscript.
You like to throw that word around a lot.

Sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander . . . stones and glass houses . . .
It was because of that book (KJV) that I was saved for sure. The NIV didn’t do that for me (and I started out with the NIV).

Sure, the NIV started me on the path, but the KJV put the conviction in me.
When I was born again, I started with the NIV. Now I never use the NIV, I consider it the poorest of the more commonly used translations, interjecting their opinions as if Scripture.

Much love!

Yea, exposing the IDOLATRY of the KJVO-ism crowd.
Don't make like I'm saying something I'm not, that's dishonest.

I've seen your deep seated issues with those who use and promote the use of the KJV. You yourself have acknowledge abuses against you involving the KJV. I think your anger is against the people, and the book, when it should only be against the people. The King James Bible didn't do that to them.

Idolatry. What a crock! We've picked out what we think is the best to use to lead us to God, and you call us idolators. This flat blanket statement you level indescriminately against anyone who touches that button.

It's no good, I'm telling you!

Much love!

I've course I've posted facts and reasonable argument to support the conclusion that KJV had its day in the sun but is now the worst translation available in English.

Let's start by you acknowledging that we are not saved by a translation. Can you acknowledge that?
What kind of question is this? Of course no one is saved by a Bible translation. Seriously? You ask this??

We are saved being baptized into Christ by the Holy Spirit.

Then, we go on to learn of Him, and a lot of that comes from His Book. So do you want an accurate translation of the proper manuscripts? Or are you OK with more interpretive translations from defective manuscripts? Many are, but I want accuracy, I want real alignment with the manuscripts, I want the manuscripts which show the actual word of God, not ones that the people of the time had better sense than to use them.

Those who had those manuscripts, one they threw in the trash to be rescued and revered later. What is with that? This is the Older and better? Hardly!!

What I've seen on this thread is that you are the one with the emotional energy directec against the others, you are the one pushing your point to the extreme, labeling others idolators just because they have a different point of view.

Do you truly not see the wrong here?

Much love!

I went from the KJV for a long time, because every used it when I grew up. I went to the NKJ because of bible studies when women used the NLT or something like that. fast forward I had several translations on my desk, all the main ones, and found errors. I asked the Lord which translation to use or should I just use the KJV again. The next day my wife came home from a Goodwill store and found 3 bibles. All 1977 NASB. That night the Holy Spirit said that's the one for me to use.
The NASB is my favorite translation of the critical text, though I continue to prefer the majority manuscript. One thing I like in particular about the NASB is that it often favors the Greek word order over a smoother English reading. So even if it makes the reading a little choppy in places, K Greek used word order to show emphasis. So maintaining the word order is very useful in my opinion.

Much love!

In KJV it reads
Verily, verily I say unto you

In NIV it reads
Very truly I tell you
The text itself reads, "Amen amen I say unto you . . .". This was a special phrase used to indicate the veracity of the saying.

So you can read it in the NIV and it says He claims to tell truth. Or you can read in the KJV and realize He was using that special phrase. That is if you've studied to know this is what was happening.

The NIV in this part isn't necessarily wrong in it's message, but it does lose the thrust of His statement.

It's like saying, This is 5150 Chromium Steel, or saying, This is really hard metal.

This is a great example of why I prefer the KJV.

Much love!

No, I don't idolize parchment. I simply accept closer to an event is more reliable compared to more copies.
It was because of that book (KJV) that I was saved for sure. The NIV didn’t do that for me
two points:
  1. Others can be similarly saved by all translation making nothing magical about this one.
  2. No one is saved by a translation. You were simply made aware of the role Christ has in your life. It is Christ that saves, not parchment.

Nice try to attempt to reduce this to I'm just emotional. I don't speak Swahili even if many claim it's the best translation. Nothing for me to get too worked up about on my end. You're just being silly, projecting perhaps.

Yes. Notice all the emotion in your response.

Most KJVO's I've met refuse to answer this at all. Read what @Michiah-Imla wrote' he claims he was saved by the KJV translation.

It was because of that book (KJV) that I was saved for sure.

I'm just reading what you say. Others have made the same observation. You are of course free to disregard all of this.

Be blessed!

He didn't say he was saved by a translation. You are imposing that on his words to justify your own.

No one is saved by a translation. You were simply made aware of the role Christ has in your life.

Wrong!

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17)

Whether the gospel is spoken to someone, is read to someone, or read by one’s own self, salvation can be found.

Your assertion is falsehood.
