I ask because I'm interested.
Still better than Gen Z.Literacy rates at the time were pitifully low, between 3 and 5 percent.
Depends on who you believe, Paul? James? You know the Bible says that they matter.
Christians already have the right to self-defense. It has to be done in accordance with the teaching and example of Jesus and the apostles.

How did they defend themselves? (Not with the weapons of the world.) That’s the way the followers of Jesus may defend themselves.
You don't think repentance is an act of faith? So faith and works don't matter?
Now that you’ve become a Christian, how do you answer those questions?
But consider, Jesus is the WORD of God.Jesus never wrote any books, letters, or official documents.
Trade Background: As a tektōn (carpenter or builder) from a rural village like Nazareth, Jesus did not belong to the urban scribal or priestly elite. In the ancient Mediterranean world, reading and writing were taught separately, and writing required specialized materials (such as papyrus, ink, and reed pens) that working-class artisans rarely used.

Why?!
Why would it break your heart? It's just a position on one subject.I’m just now realizing that you’re an atheist. … breaks my heart
Okay; I hear ya. It's actually interesting that you feel happy with a finite existence. For me, the prospect of there being nothing beyond this life feels scary. I feel so much stronger and hopeful in my faith that the thought of an existence without it feels heartbreaking to me.Why would it break your heart? It's just a position on one subject.
Most atheists I've spoken to wouldn't be up for an eternal life, they're quite happy with a finite existence, as I am.
I'd prefer not to talk about it anymore. Now that you no longer consider yourself a Christian @Riven, how do you answer those questions? Did your brief venture modify your pre-Christian view? Is there anything left of your Christian faith?
