Jesus was talking to the disciples privately and did not mean that passage of Scripture for today. Its not wrong to do so,but to use it to pressure others is. The disciples did go into all the world,beginning at Jerusalem,then Samaria and to the uttermost parts of the earth.
No where does scripture tell us to knock on doors. If you believe in the "great commission",you're sinning if you're not on the ground in a mission field.
