ChristRoseFromTheDead said:The idolatry of imagined obedience
Why do you mock what God commanded?ChristRoseFromTheDead said:The idolatry of imagined obedience
Maybe it's why God commanded to love, not know it all.Episkopos said:That's the tragedy and the impetus to teach the truth even on these forums! :)
Tell me, how do you know you are giving 100%?Episkopos said:in other words...positional theology!!!

Abel knew because the spirit witnessed that he was accepted and forgiven; Cain did not receive that witness of forgiveness.Episkopos said:I know when I give all when God responds and gives me a blessing from His hand. How did Abel know his sacrifice was received? How did Cain know his was not received?

What type of blessing are you talking about? Can you explain that a bit more?
Rom.8:32...." If God did not spare His Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also FREELY gives us ALL things? (NKJ). Do we really give God all of anything? We receive all from God freely by faith. If by "all" you are referring to the acceptance of His blessings by faith, then no problem. Paul asked the Galatians if they received the Spirit by the works of the law or by the hearing of faith. He did not mention the word "all". Abraham believed God and it was accounted to him as righteousness. Like I said before, it is a bit of an abstract term to therefore determine that Abraham gave all of his belief. How can anyone prove this?Episkopos said:I know when I give all when God responds and gives me a blessing from His hand. How did Abel know his sacrifice was received? 'Walking in the light' can be a subjective experience; all religions lead to 'some other spiritual experience' and some type of joy.Episkopos said:Like walking in the light...or some other spiritual experience...the joy of the Lord! In any case fire will come down from heaven in some form that will reward the faith that has touched God.

It sounds like you consider experience to be the witness of the spirit. Perhaps your giving 100% really means that you give until you get the experience you need.
The spirit of Christian mysticism is not the spirit of the gospel of Christ.Episkopos said:God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. We need empowerment to be holy as God is holy....so you can call overcoming sin a religious experience if you wish...but obedience to God can only happen when we receive grace from heaven. You will never stop being the carnal man until you indeed walk in the Spirit the way Jesus and all the saints did on earth.

I would venture to say most people don't understand what the gospel of Christ even is........ChristRoseFromTheDead said:The spirit of Christian mysticism is not the spirit of the gospel of Christ.
Levi said:I would venture to say most people don't understand what the gospel of Christ even is........
They make it all about them - "my salvation".
Christ empowers us, to do His will, provides grace to keep from sinning.
1 Cor 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted,he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
The ability to not sin and endure comes out of 'my salvation'. They are not mutually exclusive... but then you weren't really clear what you meant by 'my salvation'.Levi said:I would venture to say most people don't understand what the gospel of Christ even is........

So you do believe we endure and can remain sinless!!!!ChristRoseFromTheDead said:The ability to not sin and endure comes out of 'my salvation'. They are not mutually exclusive... but then you weren't really clear what you meant by 'my salvation'.
Those verses apply to me and I don't deny them. I don't have any religious or denominational slant because I didn't learn what I know from any organization or denomination.Episkopos said:Just read the bible without any religious indoctrination or denominational slant and you will see that miraculous power is what the gospel is all about! The power of a new life IN Christ.
What do you do with all the verses I posted? Do they not apply to you? Or maybe just left-handed plumbers from Romania perhaps? ;)
Define sinlessLevi said:So you do believe we endure and can remain sinless!!!!
Holy as God is holy...perfect as God is perfect...without spot or wrinkle...whiter than snow!!!! :)ChristRoseFromTheDead said:Those verses apply to me and I don't deny them. I don't have any religious or denominational slant because I didn't learn what I know from any organization or denomination.
Define sinless
completely mature.ChristRoseFromTheDead said:Define sinless
Yes! This is exactly what God has said we should be!Episkopos said:Holy as God is holy...perfect as God is perfect...without spot or wrinkle...whiter than snow!!!! :)
Holy doesn't preclude sinfulness. The priests who attended the altar were holy, yet sinful beings.Episkopos said:Holy as God is holy...perfect as God is perfect...without spot or wrinkle...whiter than snow!!!! :)
Well obviously the people to whom James was writing weren't perfect (mature), otherwise he wouldn't have directed them to persevere so that could be perfect.Levi said:completely mature.
James refers to this:
James 1:4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
Yes! This is exactly what God has said we should be!
