Ahhhh, some things roll off the tongue, some burst from the heart and yet others the pen.
Poetry gives me permission to break the rules of English. Not that the rules necessarily need breaking but the flexibility evokes a certain freedom.
The scriptures too paints word pictures which we are invited into, to both fathom and understand the greatness of the gift given us in Jesus. k.

THE RETURN

The elements rage, the earth is torn
and shrieking demon turmoil
the skies burst forth our longed for King
the grandeur is unequalled

Sharp trumpets sound and dead ears hearing
the call at last is given
the prisons grip now fast released
this is the rescue mission

Rebellions stand, hard views entrenched
the common global scene
dead men arise from opening graves
to some it is obscene

‘Rocks fall on us’ the anguished cry
and hide us from the lamb’
that piercing gaze exposes all
it’s Jesus, Son of Man

Loud shouts of triumph fill the air
corruption is defeated
the pain of death no longer stings
at his right hand we’re seated

Yessss! With the risen harmonize
the taste of bondage free
we’ll surely sing that Moses Song
for all eternity.

Lovely poem.
My dad wrote 3,678 poems in his life...well I have those of his..maybe there were some that got lost on the way.
Sadly I didn't inherit the talent. :(

I had to smile at your line:-
<Poetry gives me permission to break the rules of English>

Not sure who gave @bbyrd009 permission to "break the rules"...he probably breaks every rule in the book. :D

Glad to see that you are settling into the Site. :)

nice. i guess in Hebrew the effect was quite a bit more intense, and we are often led into the wrong idea in English? Snakes were not considered evil then, talents meant money, etc

Thank you amadeus although I'm not sure what your question pertains to.
k.
Not really a question in spite of the question mark. Sorry! What I mean is people are supposed to communicate with each other as well as with God. One way of communicating is as you indicated: via poetry.

God communicates with people through scripture, through poetry, through what we see out in the forest, through the art work of men, through human language, through gale force winds, through thunder and lightning, or even through a still, small voice as with Elijah.

"Lamb of God" is not an intentional misdirection, but a way to illustrate Christ, right.

Yes. Symbols paint pictures that words often find difficulty to express and for our joy and dare I say sanity will, as you say, endure.
