Jesus told religious leaders to their face what for, which is not nice. We are not called to be nice but righteous. Thoughts?

I don't know. The bloke comes across too proud and cocky for my liking. Can't stand people like that, think they know everything, had to shut him off after a minute or so, was doing my head in.

But I think I know what his talking about.
An example would be how the west allowed gay people to marry, just to be nice to them. Now it's lead us to a point where they cannot even be criticised and their sinful lives are celebrated.

Another example is a previous thread on this forum that asked would you go to your brothers 2nd wedding if he had committed adultery.
Eh, who am I to judge and destroy a family relationship, I too have sinned so i would be a hypocrite not to attend. And I'm not sinning by attending the wedding. Being gentle and non judgemental has its place too, especially if the brother was repentant.

That point was made in the vid; it’s the other part of Jesus actions that tend to be ignored, telling hard truths that make people uncomfortable and enraged.

The "movies" or "films" we have been given are really all we have to go by, other than what we read for ourselves.
We can't hear the tone of voice , only those who witnessed know for sure and we have their words telling us the Lord's words.
The Bible is a guide. God words are written in them. But ultimately it comes down to how the Lord puts them in your heart to hear them.
And by experiences that we encounter in our own daily lives we can relate to the emotions and actions that we may feel ourselves if it were us in that same situation.
We are given an understanding of how the Lord feels, what he thinks, the humanity in Jesus brings that realization into our own lives.
What a gift God gave to mankind. He gave us himself.
And in return we give ourselves to him.

The Lord showed us in the OT his Strength, His Justice, His Judgments, His dislikes and his loves.
In the NT The Lord shows us His Mercy, His Grace, His kindness and His love towards us.

But to those even in the NT God showed himself to those who were rebellious.

I have no probrlem with Jesus demonstrating His Fathers displeasure in what he had given them to worship him in.
But they rather worship themselves. And I believe thats what we see with throwing out the den of thieves making a living for themselves on his doorstep.

And they wanted him gone. Just like today.
And we're not going to let that happen.
Our hearts are full of love and mercy and kindness to those who are capable of love. But to those who refuse and rebel against God, we rebel against them.

This is Spiritual Warfare, and our souls our faith and Truth is on the line.
And we will not Fail. For God is with us and we are with Him.

The word 'nice' is subject to interpretation, however one thing does stand out for me and that is, 'thou shalt not bear false witness'

The guy in the video obviously has never heard a real evangelist. The Hellfire and brimstone type, that used to be common in churches and most traveled to other churches too. Sadly they are a dying breed, just like part of the end times, when God does not appoint evangelists anymore.

I think it's important to always "speak the truth in love." That doesn't mean we need to be doormats or pushovers. We can stand our ground but we need to use wisdom in how we speak to others.

I agree, and sometimes you have to be forceful.

Either way, both are said in love for the benefit of the one sticking the fork in the electric socket to not be inured.

And if they insist on sticking a fork in the electric socket, you remove the fork.
And if they still persist and get another fork, they need to be punished for not listening to sound advice.
Or, you can just let them find out for themselves. Which wouldn't really be very loving but eventually they would get the message.

I didn't realize that one of Jesus' disciples was a Canaanite. That was Simon called Zelotes, So he wasn't a Jew.
In most places I hear Simon the Zealot, a man of war for righteousness.
In the series The Chosen, Simon the Zealot throws his dagger in the river and walks away.
The problem I think with Simon is he was looking for revenge. and confusing it with Righteous Anger.
And I believe at times there is a place for that, but we're also told not to sin.
So doing something out of your own desire to have retribution, isn't really righteous, even though we think it's for the right reason.
That would be like Saul, before he was renamed Paul. What Saul had was Righteous Anger in the name of God.
Somewhere there has to be a line.
