12 that we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
13 in whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14 which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. - Ephesians 1:12-14.
Nowhere in the written scripture does it say; what you believe - saves you. It says; in whom you trusted; who first trusted; and that believing in the trusted finish work of God in Christ; is your salvation. Your salvation is; a person - Christ in you the hope of glory. Not what you believe! In whom you believed. That's it - it is done, finished, over, complete, nothing can be added to that or taken away from that believing. It is finished 'sayeth the scripture.'
If you ever get to the place where you feel uncomfortable in what you do as far as religion goes; then it may be that you have locked in a belief or doctrine or some way of thinking concerning what that group has proven to be their understanding. Proving someone else's knowledge and understanding of scripture is not exactly following on to know the Lord.
My answer when I have those that come to me in a situstion is; trust the Lord to lead you by what you know, because he cannot lead you any other way. Even if you have some wayward understanding (happens to the best of us-we are simply human being born with a knowledge that is separate from God knowledge). I'll say this in my experience; most believers I know that get it right some what - usually have gone wrong in their understanding. Sometimes you have to go wrong before you can go right, so to speak. I know I certainly have and arguably still do. But that is not the intention of the believer, the believer seeks to grow in Grace and understanding. Most Born Again Believers care about their knowledge and understanding.
Now the kicker in 'the knowledge of good and evil' is; we are certain that the Lord is interested in what I believe. When the opposite is true; it is not what you believe, hence the million and one different denominations or understandings.
IT IS; IN WHOM YOU BELIEVED...
Take note of the period, because; it is in whom you believed PERIOD. Not what YOU believe. Man believes unto salvation according to scripture. You will need the Holy Spirit after salvation to teach you the Holy written scriptures. What we believe varies so much who could be saved, none could be saved if it was based on an individual understanding.
We believe in the Death, we believe in the burial, we believe in the Resurrection, and we believe there was an Ascension, we believe in a Dissension. What you believe after that according to what is written shall be the way the Holy Spirit leads you but you cannot stay put in what the HolySpirit is doing in you to lead you because he is leading you, and you must move as He moves you, if there is to be growth in the knowledge of Him (Christ in you) who is your only life. What we have is our very own understanding - your understanding; that understanding is God inspired and will lead you - don't get stuck in your understanding, move when the Spirit moves. You may be getting Spirit taught understanding but you do not know. Not until the Holy Spirit releases that knowledge. The knowledge of the Lord' is what you are growing into, and it is just not knowing about him.
: IT IS His Knowledge:
There is two knowledges that exsist in this world; you are in one or the other. Think on these things.
The knowledge of the Lord; that is what scripture has to say about knowledge. If you still think the scriptures are talking about knowing something about the Godhead bodily you are wrong. It is the knowledge that comes from the Godhead bodily, it is in the Godhead bodily and comes from the Godhead bodily; the manifold wisdom of God; is how scripture describes it.
According to scripture anyway, most do not believe that because of; 'the knowledge of good and evil.' Your knowledge will be right 99% of the time in your own thinking ( scripture; as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he).
Most denominations or whatever you want to label man works, come out of 'the knowledge of good and evil,' they are supposed to because that is what the HolySpirit has to work with, and 'the knowledge of Good and Evil' is a; God thing, or creation of God. It contrasts 'the knowledge of the Lord,' that can only come through and by the Holy Spirit.
Think on these things; the scriptures say 'you have no need that any man teach you' because the anointing shall teach you. The Spirit teaches you.Glory to God!
What is the main Ministry of the Holy Spirit? Christ in you the hope of glory. In that is the knowledge of the Lord. When you read Paul you are reading the mind of Christ.
