Many "doctrines" have been formed from so-called historical perspectives.

Shall I mention the Book of Enoch?

One of the poorest supports in my opinion thats given for the pre-trib rapture is the "Jewish wedding ceremony".

I don't mind people's ideas, but I'm not about to hold them in the same regard as the Bible, not in the slightest.

What does the Treasury department do? Let people handle the real currency so they know IT.

But yes, you are right, that God is able to give us all wisdom and knowledge we need even without a public library, or now, internet.

Don't you find the best of times to be when you just curl up with your Bible for a week or whatever?

    Much love!

No you made the comment about anything outside of the bible to understand it so disregard culture and bible history to aid in understanding since its not needed and only the Holy Spirit is necessary for knowledge.

So everything in 1 Corinthians should be heeded including women in the church not teaching, remaining silent, asking questions at home not at church, etc...........

OK, I just want to be clear . . . assuming you can read it, that you are fluent it the language you are reading, you are saying that someone, a born again Spirit filled Christian CANNOT understand the Bible without first understanding other things from other books?

    This is your view?

    Much love!

Anything outside of the bible is irrelevant according to you in the other thread. Just the bible and the Holy Spirit is all one needs to interpret and understand the bible. So your analogies are meaningless at this point.

So which is it mark ?

No I'm saying 1 Corinthians needs to be understood in its historical context and background otherwise people can make a mess out of that book applying some of the things in that culture to ours.

What analogies do you have in mind? I don't really know where you are going here. But you seem to be fighting tooth and nail for the inability of the Holy Spirit to teach and reveal His Word.

I don't mind that you study books. And I've studied books. So what? To look down on those that don't study extrabiblical books as if they can't understand the Bible, I competely disagree with that position.

    That's like a no and a yes.

But I think we can both understand and apply the passages to our modern lives without Edersheim or Josephus.

If it helps you, that's good!

And, this is a good example of the need for spiritually gifted teachers.

    Much love!

Paul, Moses and Solomon are good examples of what I'm talking about as they had knowledge of things outside of the Scriptures that were useful to them with things they could draw from and use for Gods glory.

So a person with the gift of teaching needs nothing outside of the bible itself, not mentoring or anything else correct ?

    Just God alone right ?

And does God give this gift right out of the gate at conversion ?

Shall we begin with Solomon? Vanity of vanities, all is vanity, and chasing after the wind!

I suggest a deep immersion into Ecclesiastes. I think it's very meaningful to come to understand the emptiness of all that is in this world, and of this world. Who made deeper quests for knowledge than Solomon?

    Much love!

Paul, he declared everything outside of Christ to be dung. What more need be said? And what Paul wrote, he did not learn, it was revealed to him.

I don't know what you have in mind concerning Moses. Some point to the Code of Hammurabi, but I'm assuming that's not what you mean.

I think it best to leave it here.

We need what God knows we need, nothing more, nothing less, and we can trust that God will supply all our need, to give us a full self-sufficiency to every good work.

    Much love!

Why leave it here and not pursue Gods gift of teaching as our example,

When does God give a person a spiritual that spiritual gift ?

How do they know when they have one ?

    How is that confirmed ?

Do they get it when they are babes in Christ ?

    If not why not ?

What does spiritual maturity have to do with a gift ?
