Only think I know about tithing is you need to have your heart in the right place and should tith 10% of you making. Yes, that all I know and I think I am right about what I said and if not please corrected me. :) I am think about tithing more because I tiths once and while and now seem like everything about money life seem good.

The idea that tithing extra money, leads to being blessed with more money, is part of the prosperity "gospel", which just makes satanic pastors rich.

I think your first sentence is almost spot on. Give to God what you know you can, but don't give with the expectation of just receiving more money. Just do it because of who He is and you will reap in all areas of you life. Here is a passage on this topic (slightly lengthy read):

    (2 Cor 8:16-24, 2 Cor 9:1-15)

    2 Corinthians 8
    Titus Sent to Corinth

[sup]16[/sup] I thank God, who put into the heart of Titus the same concern I have for you. [sup]17[/sup] For Titus not only welcomed our appeal, but he is coming to you with much enthusiasm and on his own initiative. [sup]18[/sup] And we are sending along with him the brother who is praised by all the churches for his service to the gospel. [sup]19[/sup] What is more, he was chosen by the churches to accompany us as we carry the offering, which we administer in order to honor the Lord himself and to show our eagerness to help. [sup]20[/sup] We want to avoid any criticism of the way we administer this liberal gift. [sup]21[/sup] For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of men.
[sup]22[/sup] In addition, we are sending with them our brother who has often proved to us in many ways that he is zealous, and now even more so because of his great confidence in you. [sup]23[/sup] As for Titus, he is my partner and fellow worker among you; as for our brothers, they are representatives of the churches and an honor to Christ. [sup]24[/sup] Therefore show these men the proof of your love and the reason for our pride in you, so that the churches can see it.

    2 Corinthians 9

[sup]1[/sup] There is no need for me to write to you about this service to the saints. [sup]2[/sup] For I know your eagerness to help, and I have been boasting about it to the Macedonians, telling them that since last year you in Achaia were ready to give; and your enthusiasm has stirred most of them to action. [sup]3[/sup] But I am sending the brothers in order that our boasting about you in this matter should not prove hollow, but that you may be ready, as I said you would be. [sup]4[/sup] For if any Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we—not to say anything about you—would be ashamed of having been so confident. [sup]5[/sup] So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to visit you in advance and finish the arrangements for the generous gift you had promised. Then it will be ready as a generous gift, not as one grudgingly given.

    Sowing Generously

[sup]6[/sup] Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. [sup]7[/sup]Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. [sup]8[/sup] And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. [sup]9[/sup] As it is written:

    “He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor;
    his righteousness endures forever.”
    [sup][a][/sup]

[sup]10[/sup] Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. [sup]11[/sup] You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
[sup]12[/sup] This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. [sup]13[/sup] Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. [sup]14[/sup] And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. [sup]15[/sup] Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

Give what your heart moves you to give.
    Hope this helps :)

Tithing can be in many forms Wayne...people who are homeless or living day to day may tithe in time instead of money...hear this once and it is a good way to look at tithing

A family of four was living down the road from a man of God, the man went by and introduced himself and asked them if they had ever heard the Gospel of Jesus. The parents and two little boys said no and he asked if they would like to hear about a man that came and died for them..He told them the truth of Jesus that day and they accepted. the family were swatters and the man of God knew this but did not make them leave the property, for he owned it and also did not tell them. On Sunday he came by to asked them to church, only the two boys were home as the parents had been offered a small job.

The boys wanted to go to hear more about Jesus, so the man left a note to the parents and told them they were with him. In church the two boys went to Sunday school and learned a lot about Jesus. When they went into church to hear the Pastor talk about Jesus they sat very quiet and next to their friend. When it was time to pass the collection plate around the oldest was asking questions on why people were putting money in the plate. The friend explained it was how people gave to God so that God could use the money for other things. The little boy passed the plate along and was worried he had nothing to give, so he watched the plate go down the ailses and he got up and went to the back.

The little boy was the last to get the plate and he got out of his seat and started up front with it, the pastor met him half way to get it worried the child would drop it, the child put the plate on the floor and all of a sudden stepped inside on top of all the money and cried out...

Jesus I have nothing to give but myself, so please take me and use me as you would this money....that is tithing...giving yourself

Many people worship money indirectly and cannot bring themselves to tithe, because they are afraid it will leave them to little money left to pay for food and shelter. They worship and trust in money more than God to provide for them, and as a result, they try to find any excuse to not tithe.

Tithing is only done by Christians who obey the Bible and who trust and worship in God alone and not money.

Tithing is still a biblical principle for new convent Christians.

    God bless.

Truthseeker I understand what you siad but only thing I have problem is Christian who obey the bible and whorship in the God. I think should been said Christian who obey and whorship God. When you obey the bible, you are just making Christina a religion and the bible does say don't have a religion. Which obeying the bible won't spearate Christina from another religion.

Do you have any scriptures to support your opinion?

Can you show scripture that requires a new covenant participant to pay tithes and if so can you also give the dynamics of this tithe and how it is to be carried out today, ie; who is required to tithe, how is the amount of the tithe figured, who is to receive the tithe and how is the tithe to be distributed?

Wayne, are you suggesting you disobey the Bible or any part of the Bible? Yes or No?

And you said Bible doesn't say to have a religion, but that is misleading and a false teaching. James talked about religion, the PURE RELIGION:

James 1:27 Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.

The Bible is clear about it..there is a religion, a PURE and undefiled religion, and James taught about it.

    God bless.,

Tithing is a New Covenant teaching and is still valid, and that's easy for anyone to see if they truly loved the truth. It's only people who hate the idea of giving to God their first 10% of ALL INCOME, that try to look for ways to escape it, because they trust in MONEY more than God to provide for themselves.

1Cor 9: 1-14 is the clearest passage in the NT regarding tithing. Paul refers to those who worked in the temple were paid from the monies that went into the temple. Then he says, "in the same way those who preach the gospel should live from the Gospel." It seems that he says that the way the Levites were paid was the model for the NT era preacher. The church at Corinth was totally Gentile - 1 Cor 12:2 - and here Paul tells these guys that they should tithe in 1 Cor 9.

People were tithing in Paul's day BUT TO JESUS. Hebrews 7:8 Here mortal men receive tithes, but there he receives them, of whom it is witnessed that he lives.

THIS IS CLEAR EVIDENCE THAT TITHING WAS PRACTISED TO JESUS - in Paul's day the Jews who had not accepted Jesus tithed to the levites still - however Jesus received as tithes - back then and still now - and in 1 COr 9 Paul says that we pass them onto the ministers.

    Hebrews 7:1,2,8-10

For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him,2 to whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all, first being translated “king of righteousness,” and then also king of Salem, meaning “king of peace,”8 Here mortal men receive tithes, but there he receives them, of whom it is witnessed that he lives.9 Even Levi, who receives tithes, paid tithes through Abraham, so to speak,10 for he was still in the loins of his father when Melchizedek met him.

The Bible is very clear for anyone who earnstly seeks the truth, that tithing is a New Covenant principle, and God knows, we need it more than EVER in history now as humans have gone astray and become worshippers of money. Tithing shows us and God that we completely trust in God as our number 1 to provide for us. Yet sadly, many Christians in the world are NOT tithing because they fear being left short money to pay their bills. But thank God many Christians are tithing and they show that their FIRST 10% of ALL INCOME goes to God and that they trust to survive on the other 90% and have complete faith in God. They worship God as their number one and not money!

Ask yourself honestly, why do you refuse to tithe? Do you reason that you cannot afford it? Do you fear being left short? Do you place money before God? Do you trust in MONEY before God to provide for you and your family? Answer honestly, remember God is listening.

    God bless.

Where in the scriptures do you find that the tithe was 10% of "All INCOME"???

There is no tithe mentioned anywhere in this text and you have been informed of this repeatedly yet you continue to post in ignorance, why? Do you know the difference between giving alms and tithing?

Why do you deliberately twist the scriptures? Your taking Hebrews completely out of context, the topic is not the tithe it is the Melchisedek priesthood. It does mention that Abraham gave a tenth of the spoils of war to Melchisedek but it was a one time ordeal. The writer is trying to show that Christ is greater than the Levitical priesthood.

You are in serious denial if you think the scriptures you posted even come close to supporting your opinion on the tithe.

Are you joking or what? Are you new to Bible or what? You don't even know what God taught about tithing and what tithing acually means? You don't even know that tithe means a tenth?

Look jiggyfly, please do me a favour, first read your BIBLE from beginning to end, and then come back and we can talk about tithing. Thank you.

    God bless.

Why are you side stepping the question as you put it to others on this forum? Is it because you are unsure of where the scriptures are or is it because you know that they simply do not exist?

Because I cannot believe you were asking me to provide evidence that tithing means 10%, I was convinced you were either joking or messing about, because any serious Bible student knows that tithe means a tenth.

I am not sure about you, maybe you didn't even know that tithe means a tenth? Because if you did, you would never have asked someone to show you that tithing means 10%, as this is common and very very basic Bible knowledge.

I strongly encourage you to start studying the Bible before you comment on certain topics. That way you will gather a foundational belief and understanding FIRST before you comment. Someone who is uneducated in Bible matters should be asking QUESTIONS and not making STATEMENTS! So think about that jiggyfly.

I am sure you are a nice person, and I want you to know I only mean well when I encourage you to start studying the Bible for yourself FIRST before you come to conclusions about doctrines.

    God bless your heart.

That's not what I asked, I asked where does scripture state that one must tithe on all of their income, fot that matter where does it state that one was required to tithe on any of their income?

If you fail to answer it is ok I will just drop it and chock it up to your inability and lack of knowledge concerning the topic.

I already explained it to you but you refused to accept it.

At Judgement day you can explain to God why you robbed him of your tithe. Your choice. But remember, only those who do the will of God will enter heaven, not robbers and thieves.

    God bless.

Well that depends on you. Do you do the will of God? Yes or No?

Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven."

Do you think it's God's will that Christians should tithe and place God as number 1 BEFORE money? Yes or No?

    God bless.

    Amen.

And tithing shows God that you trust in Him FIRST to take care of your daily needs, and not money. That's why tithing is so important. Yet sadly most of the world place their first 10% of all income into earthly bills and things which shows that they trust in MONEY before GOD to take care of them. Big big mistake, because indirectly, they worship and trust in MONEY before God, hence, they refuse to tithe and look for any Bible evidence to help them justify robbing God of tithing.

    God bless.
