I started smoking LONG before I actually started walking with God. It was actually never my choice. I hated smoking. I don't want to get into that story too much. Basically, it was a bad situation and it was forced on me. I got addicted and then I quit, and then I didn't know how to cope with certain things and started again on my own at 19.

I quit again and again and again, and for six days at the beginning of this month, but without any emotional support besides a different forum - but it didn't give me any Christian support/comfort that I was kind of craving and then in real life there was zero emotional support. Actually it was the opposite and more of just constant criticism.

Now after being here I feel like I have a little more emotional support with dealing with certain things so I'm ready to try again.

I don't really have a point. Just wanted to share.

I'm glad to hear that, Fluffy!

It's partly emotional support, partly mental distraction, and mostly separation from the sight and smell of nicotine, IMO.

When I quit, I was essentially in isolation for a few weeks, so I never had anyone smoking in my face.

I'll pray for you some as well. And try to see yourself from the perspective of those who have successfully quit. Once you are over the addiction, the smell of cigarettes goes back to kinda making you feel a little sick. ZERO temptation to go back to it once your body is over the addiction, so as addictions go it's not the hardest thing to beat.

God bless, and thanks for sharing.

Thank you! I am going to be doing a lot of cleaning today to get rid of the smell. I don't want it on me. Some teeth whitening and cleaning might help.

You're right about going back to it. After six days I lit up again and thought, "This is disgusting." Then I for whatever reason forced myself to smoke it anyway. WHY did I do that? I don't know!

FFM said that people with C-PTSD (which I may or may not have, but going to go with may from adulthood) have a tendency to destroy their own quit and relapse because they expect disappointment and would rather do it themselves. I think that's me and it's something to work on.

    Chantix works...

After a week with lots of water and high potency B complex vitamin supplements...all the nicotine is out of your system and withdrawal symptoms are over.

The rest is in your head...and then you can claim to be a quitter.

I thought about Chantix but when my dad went to go pick up his prescription for it and asked the cost, they were like, "$400+" and he said "Keep it. I don't want it." lol

I do take take good mix that includes B vitamins for B-12 deficiency anemia and I do think it helps a lot. Vitamin D, too. It helps take off the edge a little bit.

Good point on the water. That's the hardest thing for me to remember.

I'm going to recommend high potency B complex. It's good for nervous system functions which is the main problem with withdrawal symptoms. But you also need to be careful with overdosing on B vitamins as well if you are already talking one suppliment.

I just know that it worked well for me especially at night when trying to sleep. It was something that a doctor recommended for to me to do that was relatively inexpensive but rather specific...

I pray you are able to put this away from you once and for all!

I smoked for 20 years, and quit about 25 years ago, while chewing nicotine gum. One box of that and I was done. However you accomplish this, I'm certain you can!

    Much love!

Cannabidiol can help tremendously. In fact if you are relapsing just buy some hemp cigarettes and if you are going nuts just smoke one of those. It will at least satisfy the physical act until you get the nicotine out of your system. Of course you cannot do that for the long term as smoking anything is bad for you.

    Replacing nicotine addiction with dope...

    Not a good idea ever!

I can't say as it's a great idea if you're driving. Not sure if marijuana is addictive, however, so in that sense (at least) it would be safer.

Instead, take a prescription drug that is not only artificial, but comes with lots of side effects. ;)

Hemp people, not marijuana. CBD doesn't get you high. I used to smoke, just trying to help.

Oh okay! Sorry. Thank you. :) I have heard of CBD oil but never heard of hemp cigarettes. I know the oil is useful for anxiety.

Yeah it is good for anxiety, that's why it is good for quitting smoking.

Most of the CBD products contain enough trace amounts of THC to make you test positive for most drug tests.

There is a great natural homeopathic remedy available at any health food store. The manufacturer is, Boiron. Any store will find it for you. A friend of mine went that route and hasn't smoked again in the past 20 years.
