Can a truly spiritual mind be divided between the dark and dead things of this world, and still be considered unspotted from it?

Is the narrow way many claim to be on, be much narrower than we think?

Can we afford to divide our time and attention between the vain amusements, news pundits, sports, and worldly clubs, etc., and still be considered pure and blameless before the Lord?

Some who profess to be born of God say it’s all harmless, a good diversion from boredom, and just a conscience issue, when it comes to entangling oneself with the vain things of this world.

Believe me, those who claim to have “all the truth, and have come clean out of the organized churches, will make many excuses why they can have it both ways. A little leaven of compromise is OK with them, because they see all these things as harmless amusements.

But I contend and ponder the thought of the apostle Paul, as well as Peter and Jesus Himself, and all the true saints, knew that mixing with anything the world produces is just plain carnal, of the flesh, and profit nothing! Except making those who enjoy it, dull of heart, lacking any real love and concern for the lost and the true brethren, as well as making it a priority to share some of these worldly things with those who have no desire to listen, as well as recommend them.

The spiritual mind, the mind that has been set free from the bondage's of sin and the ways of the world, will naturally avoid anything and everything that offends God! It’s called being in the fear of God, and doing nothing that is against Him and His commands to remain pure in heart, mind, and soul, and to set no worthless, wicked thing before your eyes, do not sit in the seat of the scornful to be entertained, have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but expose it, and most of all live a spotless and blameless life before God, which requires much more than having departed from the “big” sins, but also making sure NO compromise creeps in, because sins of compromise usually creep in slowly, take hold of the heart, causing it to become hard towards God and the brethren, making you an enemy of God!

Jesus plainly said that a man's heart is where his treasure is, hence where should one's treasure be if one is born of God's will?

when gold was discovered in the west of what is now the US there was what is known as the gold rush. hence they dropped everything to get what they valued most. so it is with those who love Christ. one can do anything, how did Paul say it all things are available but not expedient.

its not a sin to have and do, but if its more important to some one because they value this life in the flesh more than the Life of Christ then maybe that someone doesn't have the life of Christ in the first place. then it would be an unrealistic expectation to expect someone without something, to live as though they had it.

We are free to do all things but beware that not all things are expedient and to lean on Him to not be brought under the power of any as all things do not edify, but can lead astray.

Christians are to have their guards up all the time; especially in church where teachings and movements can cause many to go astray. It is not just the outside world that we are to be aware of.

And we can only do that by trusting Jesus Christ as our Good Shepherd to watch over our souls for we cannot keep our guards up without Him.

I'm curious if this "keeping your guard up" as you simultaneously "turn the other cheek" involves some like maybe advanced ninja moves or something? If someone steals your shirt, how go you simultaneously give them your coat and keep your guard up?

Once you possess the mind of Christ after being used as a servant to testify to the knowledge of God called Christ, then you will understand why your flesh and it's addictions to this world will perish. While we servants are being used by God to testify to His knowledge, He keeps us away from all those worldly addictions to prove to use that He's in total control of our bodies. We respond by focusing on preaching the gospel for Him to His chosen believers until we're killed by the heathens ( sinners ) who walk the earth believing they are real people.

My flesh continues to desire some things of this world but it's going to die soon, then I will wake up in new bodies on a new earth as promised.

Isaiah 65
16: So that he who blesses himself in the land shall bless himself by the God of truth, and he who takes an oath in the land shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten and are hid from my eyes.
17: "For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind.

All those verses I had given you is about keeping your guard up as you walk in this world to not be tempted by the snares in this life and especially in the churches where deception from false prophets that can come in. That is what I am talking about in keeping your guard up about; walking in Him by putting on the armor of God.

oh they know alright, but the problem is do those are walking know they know they are trying to deceive the true believer. hence you've mentioned else where that faith is needed. in this is the proving of one's faith is the faith God sees and honors. if you remember God declared Job righteous before Job experienced his dilemmas. it was God who held Job in esteem and because God said who and what Job was, there was nothing that would prevent that Word of God from being fulfilled. Job's salvation in that case was God's declaration of Job. even in the garden Adams trust and belief in the commandment of God hence Word of God was challenged.

this world is like being in a less than well build boat in the sea, and where ever water can seep in, it will. therefore one must have the Promise of God.

And yet you posted the same thing and yet finally acknowledged that I did answer you; it is just that you disagree with it.

Those scripture does address why you should be keeping your guards up IN church. False prophets can come into the churches.

So that is why I believe those scripture has everything to do with why we should keep our guards up IN church.

And since God is addressing the seven churches in revelations with warning five of them to repent or else.... stands to reason why we need to keep our guards up by trusting Jesus Christ to prove everything by Him & His words as kept in the KJV.

1 Thessalonians 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 22 Abstain from all appearance of evil. 23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

2 Timothy 4:18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

So put your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ in being your personal Good Shepherd to guard you in all your ways to help you to follow Him; not a church.

Granted the topic is geared towards guarding your heart against the things in the world, but I just wanted to point out why we need our guard up in church too since heresies or false teachings are also a work of the flesh.

Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
