Personally, I am in favor of restraining evil behavior and influences in the country, as 2 Thessalonians 2:7 points out, one way or another, cause otherwise you have ever increasing lawlessness. And you can not force anyone to change, only God does that by the Spirit. Our country is well saturated with the gospel, people are free to listen to it, read bibles, but scripture says the unrighteous prefer wicked things, they have no love for the truth, even though God shows it to them, read Romans 1
2 Thessalonians 2 New International Version
The Man of Lawlessness
1 Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers and sisters, 2 not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us—whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter—asserting that the day of the Lord has already come. 3 Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. 4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.
5 Don’t you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things? 6 And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time.
7 For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, 10 and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.
then for the saved it is different, God chose them from the beginning to be saved
13 But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth, 14 to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle.
16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, 17 comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work.
If one wants to fight lawlessness one only need to live after Romans 12:9-21
9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;
13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.
14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
It doesn’t anywhere say that we should make law or dictate how non Christians live. We can follow the law as a Christian community, feed the poor, etc. it doesn’t mention putting law into place.
Or we could just remove all laws, then there wouldn’t be lawlessness. Exactly like Trumps Corona strategy “if we don’t test, it isn’t there” if we repeal all laws there can’t be lawlessness.
If we want to change the sinful ways we need to convince people to read the Bible. We will never convince them if we come to condemn them or make their wicket way of life illegal. They need to see our love, in order for them to start hungering for what we got. Jesus showed the sinners compassion ate with tax collectors and other sinners. He told them that they were wrong but also pointed out the hypocrisy of the scribes and the pharisees. We have ended up in a society with full of Christian “scribes” and “pharisees” hiding their own filth while pointing fingers. I believe that Jesus was right in his way of life, I believe that we should not only point towards the Bible but we should be a light in the dark and live out what it’s saying. How can we be the salt of the earth if we only sit on our asses telling people to read the Bible and “good luck”?
The world will become lawless and we will be the only light, what’s the purpose of pushing sinners away. We need to light as many candles before the Antichrist takes power. If you are fighting the legislation game you’ll find yourself treading water. Preach to the lost and to the “Christians” that are already on the way off the cliff.
