Lets go over what had to happen, and who the seventh king and kingdom is, it must satisfy the following requirements:
The timeline – It must appear on earth sometime after the sixth kingdom (Rome), and yet sometime before the eighth kingdom (the last before Christ coming).
That's an assumption about the 8th kingdom being prior to Christ's coming. If you look at those kings as being from Rome, then you fail in understanding the Rev.17 prophecy. It's not just about Roman emperors only. It's about empires. In Rev.13:2 our Lord Jesus made the connection with empires in the Book of Daniel chapter 7. For John, five kingdoms were past, and one then was (pagan Rome), and the 7th was not yet (beast kingdom of Revelation). The one of Rev.17:10 that has a "short space" (of reign) is about the one in Rev.12:12 that knows he has but a short time. That's a pointer to the coming time of "great tribulation".
Type – It must be arguably describable as a religious kingdom as it says blasphemy or that it has the power and authority of God, promoting idolatry among other evil intents.
And all the past five, and the sixth (pagan Rome in John's day) did involve religious idolatry. The 7th one (in our near future) will also, but it will involve Jerusalem in a state of false worship (of the coming Antichrist), not Rome. God's Word is pointing to a fallen Jerusalem for the end.
Significance – As with the other kingdoms, it should alter the course of history in a manner that fulfills Biblical prophecy, in terms of the people and nations of the world.
That's a bit of an addition of men's leaven doctrine, as one could define history as covering a long period when that is not a requirement from God's Word. Per the Book of Daniel, and Revelation, the time of great tribulation for the end of this world is to be a period of 1260 days (or 42 months per Rev.11 & 13, the reign of the dragon over all nations). That reign is for the very end of this world, and was not in past history, nor will it involve Rome. It will involve Jerusalem.
Do you have a problem with noting God's Word is pointing to Jerusalem in a fallen worship state for the coming final beast kingdom of Revelation? That is where God's two witnesses will appear as written (Rev.11:1-10). And they come within the 6th Trumpet - 2nd Woe timing. Our Lord Jesus returns on the 7th Trumpet - 3rd Woe as written there.
So if you look closely, there is only one power in all history that meets the description given here. In other words, God closes every other option, and forces us to the only possible conclusion: the Catholic Church alone fulfills all the points of identity established.
That simply is opinion with pointing to the Roman Church. It is not an elimination of possibilities at all, like you're trying to suggest. Doing that is a leaven adding which we are not to do to God's Word.
From the Roman Empire comes this entity and it is the same one that comes as the little horn in Daniel. The details of the visions of the little horn of Daniel 7 and the first beast of Revelation 13 reveal they are the same.
That above again is opinion, and not really keeping to the Daniel Scripture. The "little horn" prophecy is about the "vile person" in Daniel 11, one in Jerusalem being setup as king there, not in Rome.
Daniel 7:21-22 King James Version (KJV)
21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;
22 Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.
Revelation 13:7 King James Version (KJV)
7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
We see it also in Revelation 11:
Revelation 11:7 King James Version (KJV)
7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
Notice also that the beast and the little horn rule for the same period of time:
Daniel 7:25 King James Version (KJV)
25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
Revelation 13:5 King James Version (KJV)
5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
The 1260 years of the Dark Ages, compare 'time, times, and dividing of time','forty and two months'.
You have the Scripture association between Daniel and Revelation correct, but not as to where and to whom it is pointing. Revelation is pointing to JERUSALEM, not Rome. God's two witnesses are killed in Jerusalem by the beast that ascends from the bottomless pit. The beast of Rev.17:8 ascends out of the bottomless pit. Just as Rev.13 mentions two separate beasts (a beast kingdom and a beast king), so likewise does Rev.17.
The four beasts of Daniel have a total of 7 heads and also has 'ten horns'.
Daniel 7:4-7 King James Version (KJV)
4 The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it.
5 And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.
6 After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.
7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.
That's a bit misleading. The only 'heads' mentioned there are with that leopard beast with 4 heads. That represented Alexander's empire. It is gone, history. That 4th one of ten horns is yet to come still, and will involve Jerusalem, which is where Rev.17 is pointing to.
