It seems logical to me to conclude my exploration of Ignatius’ writings by reading about his demise. I’m currently reading The Martyrdom Of Ignatius, author(s) unknown.

I’ll decide later this evening what to read next. I have several alternatives in mind.

Ignatius (or someone later putting words in his mouth) commented several times in his letters about Judaism. Some were quite reasonable, but others were over the top. My mind returned to them over and over as I slept last night. It influenced my decision this morning about what to read next.

I’m currently reading Early Christian Thought In It’s Jewish Context, edited by John Barclay and John Sweet.

Sound advice.

* Note to self. I spent too much time watching sports on TV yesterday. *
