Luke 8:10-13
10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.
11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
KJV
2 Thess 2:4
3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
KJV

Are you allowing the temptations of the devil make you fall away? As we see in this hour of GREAT temptation, which is the devils wiles, the world is flooded with these temptations that cause us to fall away from Christ being unfaithful to THE WORD committing spiritual fornication.
We are in the tribulation period that is separating the FAITHFUL from the unfaithful. Just as many of the Hebrews who came out of Egypt did.. they returned to Egypt in times of hardship or trouble. They did not believe God's Word and adhere to it as their HOPE in times of trouble and temptation like Jesus showed us to do in his wilderness temptations.
We are not to be standing in line with the lost who do not CALL UPON the name of the LORD being THE WORD of promise when troubles, disasters, temptations come. David called upon and stood upon the Word of God as his only hope and VICTORY against the enemy, he trusted in Christ to keep him safe and sound.
Put on your Armor of GOD... When you are hidden safely behind the armor of God standing firm as mentioned in Ep.6... you will win because the devil sees the armor but he fails to see that it is US in our weakness behind the armor... he flees because he recognizes the Armor "OF GOD" whom he cannot defeat!!

Eph 6:10-19
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
KJV

The separation is between those who walk in truth and those who follow after mens doctrines, those who know the voice of teh true shepherd and follow Him and those who follow after a stranger, those who are in Christ and those who are not. Those who are religious and follow after there religion, and those who are spiritual and only desire spiritual things,

And the separation is growing the gulf is getting bigger everyday, choose whom you will follow, Church cant save you only Jesus can.

No the church can't save me.... but the Word, he can!

1 John 1:1-2
1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
2(For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)

my exact question too .
"FALLING AWAY" ?

is this the same as the RAPTURE , TRIBULATION and the SECOND COMING ?
or are they all totally different ?

I am very much bothered about the things i do not comprehend in the Bible .
I wish and pray for enlightenment

Here is my quick take on it

First of all Luke 8:13 should not refer to us (believers) ...

Luke 8:15 should be who we are

It appears those in Luke 8:13 were simply employing a positive emotion (joy) when they heard the word , but when put to the test they had no real roots (faith)

Emotions are a good part of Christianity , but it should not be the only part .... even when life is crap we should remember we are on the winning team (with Christ)

As far as 2Thess 2:3 the KJV says .... "a falling away must occur first" .... other translations say .... "a rebellion must occur first" ... this rebellion is in regard to the rest of the world (unsaved) and the falling away will be (those people) toward the man of lawlessness and wickedness will run rampant.

This may very well include some pseudo-Christians who had no real root as per Luke 8:13

We (Christians) have our assurances in 2Thess 2:13 and 2Thess 2:14

just the questions I joined to get answered.

but here is my Scottish 2p worth

deception and the falling away are both tied together, with the deceipt so deeply indoctrinated into our basic teaching. that when the rapture does not happen till the end and satan is revealed, then the people will shake there fists at god for not keeping his promise that the pastor taught them. confusion will reign supreme and many will be beheaded. That will cause the falling away (whether they were ever truly saved or not is another topic) as fear will be greater than their faith. I think many will blaspheme the spirit in this terrible time.
I once did a study on daniels timeline and I belive the seven years has well and truly started. if I am right the rapture has not taken place and backs up my 2p worth.

If one will simply read what Apostle Paul said in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4, heeding his warning of that event of a false one coming to play God, and exalt himself over all that is even called... God, or that is worshipped, you OUGHT to know... what is going to cause the great 'falling away' he mentioned there.

Just READ it as it is written brethren. It's not difficult to understand.

Might want to read what our Lord Jesus also said in Matt.24:23-26, because it's about the same thing Paul was speaking about in 2 Thess.2 to the Thessalonians. Same thing also through Apostle John in Rev.13:11 forward about that "another beast" dragon.
