What is the burned over district?

Our moorlands burn in places most hot summers but I'm sure that's not what you mean.
It was an area of New York State called the burned over district full of kooks and spooks with thier pentecostal nonsense!
Charismatics basically also Joseph smith came from there!
Why are Pentecostals 'nonsense'? I rather thought they practiced the spiritual gifts.
The article I read indicated that the burned over district was after Joseph Smith.
Speaking in tongues is in the bible and the Spirit can do with people anything he likes including drop them to the ground.

Speaking in tounges in acts refers to foreign language not babling
Just because that's what you believe doesn't make it true.
And just because you haven't been given that particular gift
you are denying that others have received it.
There certainly is! The question to ask might be rather: Should there be more than one faith in God?
"One Lord, one faith, one baptism," Eph 4:5
Babbling, if ever you have been around natural infants and toddlers, is simply baby talk. As the baby moves from milk to meat, should his speech not also move from babble to communication? Sometimes an interpreter is needed... but to communicate with God, is there ever such a need on His side?
I, my friend, have been talking with God in tongues unknown to others since 1976. I talk with God now daily seven days a week in a tongue He gave to me.
Nobody in the Charismatic Movement cares about the real gifts of the spirit
wisdom, understanding, counsel, piety, fear of the Lord, fortitude, knowledge
Or the fruits either
Nobody?
Are you given knowledge of all the gifts of the Spirit and concerning the heart of every man?
What do you even mean by the Charismatic Movement?
If you do not really know something, even if you believe it, you should be careful about making such absolute statements. Who but God knows all of the absolutes?
