Good morning Matthias and how are you?

Good morning. I’m blessed to see another day on God’s good earth.

I have not had this experience …

Students were actually required to visit two churches outside of whatever our respective denominations were that semester. Being an older student (raised Southern Baptist and already having experienced listening to preaching in multiple non-Southern Baptist denominations) I prevailed upon the professor to allow me to experience something I hadn’t before. He considered my request and decided that it was within the spirit of the assignment. The synagogue and the mosque were approved as church visit replacements.

My experience at the mosque was different, but similar, to my experience at the synagogue. My visit was arranged by a Muslim co-worker. No one was assigned to escort me or sit with me. No one approached me or spoke with me before the service. The Imam, a Pakistani, requested a private meeting with me after the service. He said he had a message for me from Allah. The meeting was brief and cordial. We didn’t speak about the differences between Islam and Christianity. Neither did we speak about my belief in Jewish monotheism and Jesus, though he knew about it from a conversation he had about me with my Muslim friend.

… but I can say our faith in Christ matters.

Love, Walter

I’m fully persuaded that it does.

Still seeing people struggling with the Hebrew word elohim.

A word (and not the only one in Hebrew) which is always plural in form. No exceptions. However, that doesn’t mean that there is plurality in the word.

There is no plurality in the Messiah’s elohim -> the elohim of Israel.

Elohim - always plural in form.

English translations of elohim: plural -> gods; singular -> god or God.

Yahweh is the one true elohim -> always singular; never plural.

Yahweh -> Eng. God (singular), not gods (plural).

There is no God besides Yahweh. There is no plurality in the one true God.

Pick an English translation. Any standard English translation of your choosing.

Elohim -> always plural in form; always translated singular in English when used in reference to a lone pagan deity and / or to the lone deity of Israel.

Appeals to a plurality in God (note: singular) based on the word elohim have no grammatical merit.

“Most current scholarship agrees that Christianity began not as a separate religion, but as a sect of Judaism. In the early first century CE, Jews who believed that Jesus was the Messiah were simply one sect among many.”

(Joshua Schachterle, “Jewish and Christian Traditions in the Didache”)

“For Christianity, as I need not remind you, began within second Temple Judaism and was a purely Jewish phenomenon to start with.”

(James D.G. Dunn, Christian Liberty: A New Testament Perspective, p. 85)

Elohim is a Hebrew word that denotes “God” or “god.” It is one of the most common names for God in the Old Testament, starting in the very first verse: “In the beginning [Elohim] created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). The name Elohim occurs over 2,500 times in the Tanakh.

The basic meaning behind the name Elohim is one of strength or power of effect. Elohim is the infinite, all-powerful God who shows by His works that He is the creator, sustainer, and supreme judge of the world. “Bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure—you, the righteous [Elohim] who probes minds and hearts” (Psalm 7:9).

Sometimes the word Elohim is shortened to El and used as part of a longer name. El Shaddai, for example, means “God Almighty” (Genesis 49:24); El Elyon means “God Most High” (Deuteronomy 26:19); and El Roi means “God Who Sees” (Genesis 16:13). Personal names of people can include the name of God: Daniel (“El Is My Judge”), Nathanael (“Gift of El”), Samuel (“Heard by El”), Elijah (“El Is Yahweh”), and Ariel (“Lioness of El”) are examples. Place names, too, can contain the shortened form of Elohim: Bethel (“House of El”), Jezreel (“El Will Sow”), and, of course, Israel (“Prince of El”) are examples.

When Jesus cried out from the cross, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” (Mark 15:34), He addressed the Father with a form of Elohim, Eloi. Mark translates Jesus’ statement for us: “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?

Making Bible translation more complex is the fact that Elohim has other usages in the Old Testament besides referring to the One True God. In some contexts, elohim refers to human rulers or judges (see Psalm 82:6 and John 10:34)—the idea is that such people are to act as God’s representatives on earth, exercising authority wisely and ensuring justice. The warning of Psalm 82 is that the human elohim must answer to the Supreme Elohim some day. Elsewhere, elohim is used to refer to false gods (e.g., Deuteronomy 4:28). “They have forsaken me and worshiped Ashtoreth the [elohe] of the Sidonians, Chemosh the [elohe] of the Moabites, and Molek the [elohe] of the Ammonites” (1 Kings 11:33). Note that elohe is a form of elohim used with qualifying words or phrases and translated “god of.”

Interestingly, the word Elohim is grammatically plural rather than singular (the -im suffix in Hebrew indicates the plural form). The singular form of Elohim is probably Eloah. What are we to make of the plural? Does the plural form of Elohim imply polytheism? No, the Torah makes clear that God is one (Deuteronomy 6:4). Polytheism is expressly forbidden in the Old Testament.

What about Trinitarianism? Does the fact that Elohim is plural suggest the triune nature of God? It is best to understand the word construction as a plural of majesty; that is, writing “Elohim” is a stylistic way of emphasizing greatness, power, and prestige. With that said, and in light of the overall teaching of the Bible, the plural form of Elohim certainly allows for the further revelation of God’s triune nature; the Old Testament hints at the Trinity in order to prepare people for the Messiah who would be much more than a human prophet. When Jesus appeared, He more fully revealed mysteries hinted at in the Old Testament. At Jesus’ baptism we have all three Persons of Elohim present: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16–17).

Our God is great and mighty. His power is on display every day and night in the universe He has made. “Ah, Sovereign LORD, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you” (Jeremiah 32:17). This great power that no one can restrain is the characteristic of God basic to His name Elohim.

What does Elohim mean in Aramaic?

When referring to Yahweh, elohim very often is accompanied by the article ha-, to mean, in combination, “the God,” and sometimes with a further identification Elohim ḥayyim, meaning “the living God.” Singular: Eloah.

Well the first Christians were Jews in fact ! The difference was that the worthy Jews were worthy of God and became truly born again Christians !

The Jews after Christ Jesus came that did not get born again ! were not worthy of God in fact, period ! and never will be in fact untill they are truly born again !

As Jesus said, You must be born again !

True Christianity is Israel in fact ! for They are Servants of God. They do Christ Jesus will. outside of that no one is worthy of God in fact.
If one does not abide in the Vine ! then one is not worthy of God in fact.

Supernatural entity. EL or HL is a transliteration [from Grreek to Aramaic] singular for God or supernatural entity.

What is the difference between a Jew and a Christian?

It is very simple: A Jew can count to two, and a Christian cannot.

A Jew knows that 1 + 1 = 2, and a Christian thinks that 1 + 1 + 1 = 1.

A Jew knows that a God the Father and a god the son is two (2!) gods. A Christian thinks that a God the Father and a god the son and a god the holy ghost is only one God.

When you can count to two you cannot be a polytheist and therefore not a Christian.
Hello, We do not see any difference, Romans 3:29 - Righteousness through Faith

Israelites, not necessarily Jews.
What Jesus said to Nathaniel, does that clear it up, well it truly does in fact !

Not all Jews are worthy of the title Israel in fact bro. as the Bible points out many times in fact.

A Christian does not mean that one is truly born again in fact, regardless what one may claim.
Not to mention a Christian does not expect that all Christians are truly born again in fact, not to mention, that no one is born as what's called born again in fact, so it is a Title that one can aspire to become or the hope is to become truly born again in fact, for if one is not truly born again, then the issue is that one could be snatched out of Gods hand ? for they do not have 100% faith in Christ Jesus in fact ! So who will they turn to ?
This world that is full of deceptions and delusions or to Christ Jesus ? It takes great Faith that can move mountains to not be tempted by this world in fact !

The Word Jew is a nonsense word that can be so vast and wide lacking in such a true context, but a Hebrew could be another word used and Israel can be used in a wide stance as well but truly Jesus nails it when talking to Nathaniel in fact, as well as in relation to Jacob.
So that is the Key to the issue regarding a truly born again Christian ! but in regards to your average Joe blow Christian, they would not truly know of such an issue for they are only religious carnal ? and they will swallow what this world peddles in fact, like calling a State Israel ! What a boast ! could you say or boast such to God ? Haha pathetic !
It's not even worthy of the OT in fact, sure their are some that are and they hope and desire it to become worthy of Israel ! that means worthy of God ! but how can it become worthy if it rejects Christ Jesus in fact ! see ! Jesus would not be impressed at all with anyone who makes such a claim in fact !

So some fool is going to point to Jesus, look that that is Israel ! o_O :phew: Moron !

The only people who are worthy of God are they who abide in him ! period ! for they are worthy of Israel in fact, for when Jesus came, it was they who were worthy Jews worthy of Holy Moses that had the faith in Jesus but they did not truly know, that he was the Christ Jesus until Jesus went to Heaven bro ! and it was They became the first Christians in fact bro ! because they were truly born again in fact !

Not to mention that when one is truly born again, it is then that you have no regards to your Race being the issue in fact, but for the ultimate ! Union with Christ Jesus in fact ! for your Race does not mean Jack, because your so called Race never cut it in fact !
Not to mention your Religion does not cut it ! regardless in fact, but that you must be born again means everything !

Ones so called Race is nothing but of filthy rags !
Thank God that i am not of this world and start ranting on about some Race issue in regards God ! because such is pathetic ! Of all the Races that i know i am, i could bag such peoples History no end in fact ! but could I bag Christ Jesus, not at all in fact ! so who do you put your self with ? some stupid God forsaken Race that has proven themselves not worthy of God in fact ! come on, you got to do better than that !
