“If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.

If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing.

If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.

Love is
patient
and kind.

Love is not jealous
or boastful
or proud
or rude.
It does not demand its own way.
It is not irritable,
and it keeps no record of being wronged.
It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.

Love never gives up,
never loses faith,
is always hopeful,
and endures through every circumstance.

Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless.

But love will last forever!

Now our knowledge is partial and incomplete, and even the gift of prophecy reveals only part of the whole picture!

But when the time of perfection comes, these partial things will become useless.

When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things.

Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity.

All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.

Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.”

Such an important lesson here for individuals to think about.

An important lesson I learned about love is that real love will motivate you to do practical things to help those in need.

Love is action, not just lip service.

That seems to be going talked about by Paul. You’re right it is an action. That is what Agape love involves in 1 Corinthians 13.

It is really amazing that this information is available to almost all the world anyone can pick it up and dissect what love is here which is actions.

There is a lot of passages on love Matt. Sadly even among Christians it is very lacking, I see it all the time. Interestingly Jehovah has 4 main qualities; Love, Justice, Wisdom, and Power. But of all these He is actually called Love at 1 Jn 4:8. Likely like myself you would believe love of God is most important, but some may wonder if they have the love toward God that they should, as I myself have questioned at times, so how wonderful it is to have God tell us who really loves Him 1 Jn 5:3.

All I know is that I am a failure my friend @Robert Gwin.

I have noticed the past few days in prayer and supplication to the Father in Jesus name, and reading the Bible brings in light rather than darkness.

He has helped me a lot in just the past 24 hours, but my flesh still wants what it wants, and the only way to subdue it is continue to ask him to help, which the Spirit does help. (Luke 11:13).

Woah! Back up Matt, that does not make you a failure sir. If anything it shows your sincerity in desiring to please God. Please reread Paul's comments:
(Romans 7:14-25) . . .we know that the Law is spiritual, but I am fleshly, sold under sin. 15 For I do not understand what I am doing. For I do not practice what I wish, but I do what I hate. 16 However, if I do what I do not wish, I agree that the Law is fine. 17 But now I am no longer the one doing it, but it is the sin that resides in me. 18 For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, there dwells nothing good; for I have the desire to do what is fine but not the ability to carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good that I wish, but the bad that I do not wish is what I practice. 20 If, then, I do what I do not wish, I am no longer the one carrying it out, but it is the sin dwelling in me. 21 I find, then, this law in my case: When I wish to do what is right, what is bad is present with me. 22 I really delight in the law of God according to the man I am within, 23 but I see in my body another law warring against the law of my mind and leading me captive to sin’s law that is in my body. 24 Miserable man that I am! Who will rescue me from the body undergoing this death? 25 Thanks to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So, then, with my mind I myself am a slave to God’s law, but with my flesh to sin’s law.

All Christians have inclination toward sin Matt, I read this example often because at times I feel like I let God down, but when we see that Paul, who was an apostle, spirit anointed, and personally selected by Jesus struggling with the desires of the flesh, we know we are definitely going to be in for a struggle ourselves. Jesus said we had to fight to stay on that narrow road to life, and no doubt you know that God makes the way out for us when sin is crouching at the doors: (1 Corinthians 10:12, 13) 12 So let the one who thinks he is standing beware that he does not fall. 13 No temptation has come upon you except what is common to men. But God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear, but along with the temptation he will also make the way out so that you may be able to endure it.

We all have periods of ups and downs my friend, don't let this one whip you, your honest desire to please God will move you forward in His service I am sure.
