We like to think the Jesus we are taught is at least pretty close, but what if its not?

What if "Jesus (=Joshua, the most common name in the world then apparently) of Nazareth (can anything good come from Nazareth?)" means something completely different from what they told us?

well, all i can say there is that ive tried other theories on in my walk, for like a short time, brief season maybe, and this does not seem to be going like that. And i dont need you to Quote anything, ok? Its cool. As i said, might even be a coincidence :)

The wording of your question, shows that you believe. For that little word, 'IS', shows that you believe that He is alive. Which necessitates that He be risen from the dead. Only the power of God could accomplish that. So you have confessed that you believe that God has raised Him from the dead, simply by wording your question in the way that you have.

and imo even the meaning of the name "Mary" makes this pretty plain, which any etymology will define i guess...im not finding any of them in serious disagreement? Mary reps rebellion, bitter or more likely strong, from myrrh, from Hebrew, and only comes to mean "beloved" via the Egyptian etymology, lol

Well, i'm somewhat reluctant to offer an opinion. The matter of Who Jesus is has been misrepresented too often by too many people already. Adding to the confusion is not something I wish to do. So, opinion, no. But what I can describe is the Jesus I met like I said, now 43 years ago, and Who has led and guided, protected, changed, and blessed me and my family.
Through bereavement... Crisis... Betrayal.... Sickness... And all the gamut of human emotion and weakness, there has remained forgiveness, empathy, love, grace, mercy, and patience. That's the real Jesus. The Jesus I know... The Jesus of scripture.

um, that last guy btw, we might examine that a little bit, the Jesus Who started all this mess?

According to some, yes. As Creator did He not know what was coming, and continued anyway? Doesn't the scripture say, I create good and evil? So yeah, some people think it's all Jesus fault. And now He's gone and not coming back. But, that ain't the real Jesus either.

Here Apostle Paul tells us about a way out of this thing of being carried back and forth by winds ours:

"That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;" Eph 4:14

Paul's words show the hoped for conclusion, for which God did provid us with help:

"And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:" Eph 4:11-12

Yes, God has given these ministers, these helpers, as gifts. Since they are still needed He continues to give them. However, like King Saul of Israel who was also called and chosen by God a great many called and chosen ministers today are Not following God's Way or even seeking it. Rather as we too often see they, the ministers, follow instead their own head toward the fulfillment of their own desires. They are intended to help people become perfect as Jesus told us to become perfect. The 'sent' ministers certainly do not carry all of the blame.

When King Saul failed to obey God he blamed the people and tried to justify himself. The people did share in the blame as each of them really did also want to do whatever was right in his own eyes.

Today God has given us more help than He ever gave to King Saul and his subjects. So would not that mean that we, when we don't properly use what He provided, should carry a greater blame than them when we follow our own head toward the fulfillment of our own desires?

In addition to these ministers who are supposed to help, understanding very well what was going to happen, God also gave the individuals the means to approach God more closely in spite of the failure of called ministers:

"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." Acts 1:8

The same Holy Ghost, which had worked in the OT through priests, prophets and kings, now is available to whosoever will. Even if our ministers fail to properly do what they were sent to do... God has not left us without recourse. We cannot use their failure as an excuse for not approaching God more closely ourselves.

But... looking around it seems that a whole lot of someones do not really care and/or are not paying attention.

"But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more." Luke 12:48

My thinking there is that basically any faith that is untested is just a noun anyway?
