Hello Family of God,

We're living in perilous times where evil and iniquity is rising at an unprecedented rate; exactly as it was foretold by Prophecy. Not only are the number of apostates among leaders in Christianity increasing; there now exists many doctrines of demons, which are substituting the Truth of Holy Scripture with teachings that feed off of the pride of man's heart. The most common ones coming to the fore are Salvation by works (i.e., "Salvation is achieved by works, or [good] deeds") -- and the false doctrine which teaches that every human will eventually be saved because love wins in the end; regardless if you are an unrepentant sinner, sexually immoral, an unbeliever, and even a pagan -- but is this what the Holy Scripture says?

"For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation. For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because [WE TRUST IN THE LIVING GOD], who is [THE SAVIOUR OF ALL MEN] (Grk. soter panton anthropon; i.e., "all in the literal sense, and NOT all kinds of men"), [SPECIALLY OF THOSE THAT BELIEVE] (Grk. malista piston)." (1 Timothy 4:8-10)

The Biblical passage cited directly above has been misinterpreted by MANY Bible teachers, Scholars, Pastors, and students of the Word of God, when they fail to apply the CORRECT principles of Biblical interpretation: Systematic theology, Perspicuity of Scripture, Exegesis, Hermeneutics, and its Cultural/Historical/Literary CONTEXT. EVERY word in Sacred Scripture must be taken into account, including verb tenses (cf. Matt. 4:4; 2 Tim. 2:15; 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:2-4). Several interpretations have been given to reconcile its understanding in light of the Totality of the Word of God.
  • - Universalism (i.e., "All human beings will eventually be reconciled to God")
  • - Common Grace (cf. Gen. 2:16-17; 3:1-19; Rom. 6:23; 7:22-24; 1 Cor. 15:22; Heb. 2:14-15)
  • - All "kinds" or "types" of people (e.g., "kings, ethnic groups, slaves, etc." -- cf. 1 Tim. 2:1-3)
  • - There is ONLY ONE SAVIOR, and ONLY ONE NAME under heaven given among men by which we must be saved; it is ONLY through the Lord Jesus Christ, and His Atoning death/shed Blood on the Cross for MANY for the remission of sins, can anyone be saved (see Matt. 7:13-14; Jn. 10:7-8; 14:6; Acts 4:12)
"Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and [MANY] there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and [FEW] there be that find it." (Matthew 7:13-14)

Based on these reasons, which interpretation would be the correct understanding of the passage? Everyone ought to know that if Jesus Christ shed His Precious Blood for MANY, then this would imply that His Sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins was not shed for ALL; because if this were to be the case, then ALL mankind (i.e., "past, present, and future") would be saved -- including Judas Iscariot; and all of us ought to know that this is NOT what the Infallible and Inerrant Word of God tells us. It should be clear to anyone that there will be MANY who will be condemned to Hell and the Eternal Lake of Fire (i.e., "the BROAD way which leads to Eternal ruin"). MANY, in both the Salvation and the Condemnation of men/women is to be determined by its context; in like manner, the Precious Blood of the Lamb of God was shed for MANY -- not ALL, and only a few find it (cf. Matt. 26:28; Lk. 13:25-27; Rom. 5:19; Heb. 9:25).

"These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. [AND THIS IS LIFE ETERNAL], that they might know thee [THE ONLY TRUE GOD, AND JESUS CHRIST], whom thou hast sent." (John 17:1-3)

In Closing:

"And he said unto me, [IT IS DONE] (Grk. gegonan -- perfect active indicative; i.e., "these promises, which is a future event, have ALREADY come to pass in the Eternal Plan and Mind of God"). I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. [HE THAT OVERCOMETH] (Grk. ho nikon -- present active participle; i.e., "Genuine Christians will overcome, and will continue to overcome all trials in this passing world" -- cf. Jn. 16:33; 1 Jn. 5:4) shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." (Revelation 21:6-8)

There is ONLY ONE SAVIOR (i.e., "the Savior of All men") to turn to for Salvation and Deliverance from sin and Eternal Judgment (i.e., "Jesus is the Door" -- cf. Jn. 10:9-16) -- and all other religions will ultimately lead to spiritual death. Those who have been cleansed by the Precious Blood of the Lamb of God -- and have placed their FAITH and TRUST in Him Alone for their Salvation (i.e., "because there is no other Savior"), will be delivered from the Coming Wrath of Almighty God (i.e., "WE TRUST IN THE LIVING GOD"). To possess [ETERNAL LIFE] is to KNOW the One TRUE GOD (i.e., "as opposed to the MANY FALSE gods") -- and Jesus Christ as our ONLY Savior.

"I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie." (Revelation 22:13-15)

[I AM]
  1. [The Father] Alpha and Omega
  2. [The Son] the Beginning and the End
  3. [The Holy Spirit] the First and the Last
"And the Spirit and the bride say, [COME]. And let him that heareth say, [COME]. And let him that is athirst [COME]. And whosoever will, [LET HIM TAKE THE WATER OF LIFE FREELY]." (Revelation 22:17)

This is the Last chapter in the Bible, and all Three persons of the Triune Godhead beckons anyone who THIRSTS for Eternal Life to receive it FREELY by the Grace of God to all those who will receive it with Faith (i.e., "God speaking through His Spirit inspired Words in Sacred Scripture"). Tomorrow is never a guarantee to anyone, and the greatest priority in life is to be reconciled to God; because everyone will one day breathe their last breath, and exhale their spirit. Then immediately will the slaves of God escort you to one of two places (i.e., "Hell, and finally to the Eternal Lake of Fire; or to the Paradise of God").

God Bless!!!

I would say to this that Jesus' life was indeed given as a ransom for all...

But that all do not avail themselves of what is provided through the Cross.

It is offered to everyone as a free gift...but the gift must be received in order to be appropriated.

1Ti 2:5, For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
1Ti 2:6, Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

Universalism is the doctrine that you are referring to, and it's yet another heresy.

. The most common ones coming to the fore are Salvation by works (i.e., "Salvation is achieved by works, or [good] deeds")

Unfortunately some people confuse works done to merit salvation and obedience to the will of God. Obedience to God's will never earns God's grace but is a necessary condition God has place upon His free gift of grace. Hebrews 5:9 Christ is the Author of salvation (the free gift) to all them that obey (a condition) Him. John 6:27 Jesus said to work for the food that endure unto everlasting life which the Son of man shall give unto you. Everlasting life is the free gift Christ gives but one must meet the condition of working. The work in the context one must conditionally meet is the work of believing.

Universalism is distinctly different from Universal Atonement. In the latter, Jesus died for all but not all avail themselves of what Jesus did for them. In the former, everyone is saved; and it would seem that the Cross isn't even an issue.

Obedience to God's will never earns God's grace but is a necessary condition God has place upon His free gift of grace.

If obedience is a condition on obtaining God's grace, then it is very much like working for wages (earning one's salvation).

Hebrews 5:9 Christ is the Author of salvation (the free gift) to all them that obey (a condition) Him.

The verse in question can be interpreted to mean that those who are saved will work as the result of being saved: it does not necessarily say that one must work as a condition for being saved.

Jesus said to work for the food that endure unto everlasting life which the Son of man shall give unto you.

In context, the work in question is to believe on Him whom He sent.

Everlasting life is the free gift Christ gives but one must meet the condition of working.

This work has to do with the necessary food that we eat as children of God. One must put his fork to the food and then put the food to his mouth in order to eat the food that endures to everlasting life. This food is what enables us to have faith in Jesus Christ; by which alone we are saved. Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17.

One must put in the necessary work of reading the word of God or else listening to a preacher, in order to hear the message by which, if they simply put their faith in it, they will be saved...no other condition than hearing and believing.

You are attempting to introduce the false concept of Calvinistic Unconditional Election here. But John the Baptist REFUTED you long, long ago. Christ is the Lamb of God who took away the sin OF THE WORLD. That means all humanity, and even Calvin (in his commentary on John 1:29) had no choice except to admit that this verse included ALL HUMANITY.

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe... The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. (John 1:6,7,29)

Notice the correspondence between "all men through him might believe" and "the sin of the world". So anyone who respects the Word of God will not try and manipulate these verses to suit his Calvinistic false gospel. Therefore you have drawn the wrong conclusion by contrasting "many" and "all".

While it is true that Christ died for all men, it is equally true that all will not be saved. And that is because all will NOT obey the Gospel.

But they have not all obeyed the Gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? (Rom 10:16)

You've never been able to show just one example from the BIble where man's obedience to God earned God's free gift of salvation.

Hebrews 11:7 Noah's house being saved from the flood was by God's grace but it conditionally took Noah's obedience in building the ark in order for his house to be saved not because his house was already saved from a flood that had not yet occurred.

Work for the food that endures unto everlasting life. No work = no everlasting, the language could not be more simple to understand unless one has a theological bias he is bringing to the Bible.

I agree!! In the context belief is the work Jesus gave the men to do.

Jesus said to work FOR everlasting life. He is telling them to put less emphasis in working for the physical food to eat and put main emphasis on the work of believing required to have everlasting life.

Jn 6:27 "Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life,..."
Jn 6:28 "Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?"

By the question the people ask Jesus in verse 28 shows they understood Christ was giving them a work to do in verse 27. So they ask what shall WE DO that WE WORK. Note how Jesus did NOT tell them not to do any work as a Calvinist preacher would tell them. But Christ instead gave them the work of believing to do

justbyfaith said:

Without that work in studying the word of God to know how to be saved then one could not be saved. Yet that work of reading and studying does not earn the free gift of salvation but a necessary condition that must be met to before one can be saved.

Hearing and believing followed by repentance (Luke 13:3) confession (Matthew 10:32-33) and baptism (Mark 16:16 then one can become a Christian.

You've never been able to show just one example from the Bible where man's obedience to God earned God's free gift of salvation.

I don't believe that man's obedience to God earns his salvation.

Work for the food that endures unto everlasting life. No work = no everlasting, the language could not be more simple to understand unless one has a theological bias he is bringing to the Bible.

If that is the case, then salvation is by works.

However, such an idea is refuted by such verses as Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 4:5-6, Titus 3:5, and Romans 11:5-6.

For those who insist on believing that salvation is by works, Jesus told us that this is the work of God, to believe on Him whom He sent.

This is not to say that faith is a work; but it is to say that faith is a work only if you insist that salvation is by works. So that you will choose faith rather than works. When it comes to salvation/election, faith and works are mutually exclusive, see Romans 11:5-6. Therefore faith is not, in all reality, a work; unless you want to insist on being saved by your works. In which case we concede that faith is a work in order that you might work the only work that can even save you, which is to believe in Christ.

While in all reality, we are saved by grace through faith and not of works (Ephesians 2:8-9).

We are regenerated and renewed in the Holy Ghost "not by works of righteousness which we have done." (Titus 3:5).

To him that worketh not but believeth on him who justifieth the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness; and, "God imputes righteousness without works." (Romans 4:5-6)

If obedience is a condition on obtaining God's grace, then it is very much like working for wages (earning one's salvation).

Obedience is a requirement because the wages of sin is death.

Romans 6
[20] For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
[21] What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
[22] But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
[23] For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

I don't believe that man's obedience to God earns his salvation.

Notice the condition of having our sins cleansed.

1 John 1
[6] If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
[7] But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

We must walk in the Light, i.e., God's holiness and righteousness, to have our sins cleansed by the blood of Jesus.

Obedience is a requirement because the wages of sin is death.

Romans 6
[20] For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
[21] What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.

[23] For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

However, the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

It is not that obedience is a requirement for salvation, but that faith is the requirement; and that a living and saving faith will set you free from sin.

It is important to make the distinction here: because there are those who attempt to "turn over a new leaf" by ceasing from sin; but because they do not appropriate the blood of Christ and do not have the Holy Spirit, they do not have the power to live the perfect life that the Lord requires of them (Galatians 3:10, James 2:10, Matthew 5:48).

Walking in the light has nothing to do with work...rather it has to do with being in a state of transparency before the Lord...we are not like Adam and Eve who hid from the Lord in the garden...we come boldly to the throne of grace and His precious blood cleanses us from all sin.
