These are examples of the MANY WARNINGS written in the NT.
But, WHO were they written to? ... Everybody, or ______?
All passages are from the NKJV.

Matthew 7:13-14
“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction,
and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way
which leads to (eternal) life, and there are few who find it.”

Matthew 16:24-26
“If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.
For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?”

Luke 14:27-33
“… which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether
he has enough to finish it … whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.”

John 12:25
“He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.”

Ephesians 5:3-6
”But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting
for saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving
of thanks. For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater,
has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words,
for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.”

Galatians 5:19-21
”Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,
idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions,
heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as
I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

Galatians 6:7-8
”Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit
will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.”

1 Corinthians 6:9-10
”Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived.
Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves,
nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.”

Revelation 2—3
These 7 churches were all quite close together in S-W Turkey close to the island of Patmos
in the Aegean Sea where John wrote The Revelation.
Jesus warns the members of all 7 churches that they must be overcomers!
The “overcomers” are promised …
Ephesus -- I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.
Smyrna -- the crown of life … and … you shall not be hurt by the second death.
Pergamos -- I will give some of the hidden manna to eat … and … a new name.
Thyatira -- power over the nations … and … the morning star.
Sardis -- clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life;
but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.
Philadelphia -- I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world
… and … I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God … I will write on him the name of My God
and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem … And I will write on him My new name.
Laodicea -- I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat on My Father’s throne.
Re: Loadicea ... This cannot be the "overcoming" mentioned in 1 John 5:5
(where overcomers are those who believe Jesus is the Son of God), i.e. this can't apply to Jesus

Revelation 21:7-8
”He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.
But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters,
and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone,
which is the second death.”

Revelation 22:14-15
”Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life,
and may enter through the gates into the city. But outside are dogs and sorcerers and
sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.”

All of these warnings in the Revelation ... Who do you believe Jesus wrote them to?

those are some good scriptures but i believe there is more to these scriptures then meets the eye.

i believe most of these scriptures are for the overcomers in Christ.

the first 4 verses talk about what is necessary to become an overcomer.
verses 5&6 are referring to those that are saved.
verse 7 applies to both saved and overcomers.
verse 8 refers to the saved.

depending upon the context the verse is used in also could cause some of the verses to refer to the unsaved also.

revelation scriptures
verse one refers to overcomers.
verse 2&3 refer to overcomers, saved, and unsaved.

btw overcomers are not all those who believe Jesus Christ is the son of God. overcomers are those that have a close relationship with God and are out doing God's will eagerly and obediently.

God bless

I believe these scriptures are written to believers. For judgement begins with the House of God. We are redeemed by the blood of Jesus yet He requires obedience and a holy lifestyle dedicated to Him alone!

Very good post!

They are written for those who are reading the Bible and claim they BELIEVE and confess to LOVE the Word.
Saved and inherit the kingdom of God are two completely different things.

1 Cor 3:11-17
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ{THE WORD}.
12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

They were written to ANYONE who has "EARS to HEAR."

And "whosoever will, may come".

I like your way of thinking...I had the same understanding re: these scriptures ;)
Yes, Angelina, but IMO you don't mean thinking ... you mean spiritual revelation.
This is another example of why everyone should NOT rest until they receive
the baptism with the Holy Spirit (with the initial evidence of receiving it ... being speaking in tongues).

Smith Wigglesworth, God's greatest healing evangelist of this century (IMO) said:
"If you do not have the baptism with the Holy Spirit, you are living in a weak and impoverished condition."
(He was speaking of one's spiritual condition, of course.)

For those interested, this forum is more than able to instruct you in how to receive this.
Jesus is the One who baptizes in the Spirit, and it is a special anointing of spiritual power,
and may be given to true believers, as the Lord sees fit.
