What does the Bible say about pornography? Why is pornography so addictive? How can an addiction to pornography be overcome? A conversation with Jonathan Daugherty of Be Broken Ministries.

I have a brother who has overcome this with prayer and staying off FB and all social media and of course, by the blood of the Lamb and prayer/trust.

A friend had this addiction. When he went to counseling, the therapist showed him 2 brain scans. One was of a port addict. The other was the brain scan of a person on crystal meth. One brain scan showed significantly less brain activity than the other.

When asked, which was which, my friend picked the lesser brain activity to the chemical addicts brain. WRONG! He was shocked to learn it was the brain of the porn addicts.

that kind of stuff is dangerous because you might be looking at young woman who might be involved in human trafficking, the people that use & abuse these women are crimmals & treat these women horribly, if you have an addction you should definately pray about it & get rid of anything that is not healthy like dirty magazines or stuff on your PC, you should also download filters that help to get rid of that stuff

I think it could also be dangerous because of the visions and thoughts they would conjure up in the mind...ew. It's definitely an addiction.

I learned the porn industry is bigger than the NFL, NBA and MLB combined in terms of revenue.

I confess that my primary non-chemical addiction concern is not pornography but electronic. People are losing social skills. Young people are not actually having sex - or even interested in dating. Our culture has embraced death, suicidal birth rates. America is now at a fertility rate lower than it has ever been at 1.6 (to sustain a population, a fertility rate of 2.1 is needed).

The paradox of porn is that it discourages actual sex. One reason is risk avoidance. Why should an enterprising young man risk rejection in asking a woman on a date? Why risk paying for dinner and a movie and then rejected? EVEN IF the date is culminized - why risk STD or false claims of rape? Arguably worse, is a pregnancy where he is forced against his will to pay child support - up to half his income - for 20 years. The fantasy of a sexually attractive partner is preferred in many cases to the reality of a relationship fraught with risks from beginning to end.

Our society is in a world of hurt and Jesus cannot get here fast enough for me.

Wow, that is a lot of revenue! Don't they ever get sick of the same thing over and over again? That's addiction for you. Social skills?? :doldrums: thing of the past :(

I have to disagree that this younger generation is backing off on fornication. Most of my many nieces and nephews, most in their 20's, are living with or sleeping with their girlfriend or boyfriend. They don't even think to hide it anymore. Far as I know, they are using birth control more so as my nieces are not getting pregnant...except one, who happens to still be with her childhood sweetheart :Amen:

Not sure

Pornography appeals to the basest of instincts and blots out the very image of God in man. The watching victim is trained to become hopelessly selfish. The performing victims are often literal slaves. The purpose of the male-female union is, to a great extent, fruitful multiplication. When this model is broken down (as it is in so many other ways), society rots from within.

And, worst of all, Christ is crucified over and over again.

You used to hear a lot about divorce statistics in church. Now the point is moot. Most folks can't be bothered with making it legal to begin with anymore. :(

Anybody seen Jane D. lately?
